Job Description:
We are seeking a high-velocity and safety-conscious Stage Light Technician & Rigger to anchor our technical production team in Lagos. In the professional entertainment and media sector, success is defined by "Structural Sovereignty", the ability to harmonize complex heavy-lifting and rigging with the creative precision required to execute a Lighting Designer's vision. This role is designed for a "Technical Architect" with at least 1 year of experience who can blend "Mechanical Grit" (erecting cranes, scaffolding, and booms) with the "Electrical Agility" required to program and operate computer-controlled lighting systems.
Requirements:
1. Rigging Architecture & Heavy-Lift Governance
Load Intelligence: Inspect and prepare loads for movement, accurately estimating size, weight, and shape to determine the optimal rigging equipment and machinery needed.
Structural Engineering: Set up, align, and anchor heavy equipment, including the erection of cranes, mobile booms, and temporary scaffolding structures with millimetric precision.
Asset Stewardship: Dismantle and store rigging equipment after use, ensuring all gear is organized and reporting any safety issues or wear-and-tear immediately.
2. Lighting Orchestration & Atmospheric Engineering
Fixture Lifecycle Management: Set up, maintain, and dismantle light fixtures and control devices for photography, film, and live productions, ensuring every "Source of Truth" aligns with the design intent.
Show Control: Prepare and operate manual or computer-controlled lighting systems during live shows, creating complex lighting effects that enhance the performance narrative.
Technical Rigging: Execute the "Load-In" and "Hang" of lights, which includes climbing, focusing fixtures, and meticulous cable management to ensure a clutter-free and professional stage.
3. Electrical Safety & Operational Integrity
Risk Mitigation: Conduct rigorous assessments of wiring and equipment setups to proactively prevent fire or electrical shock, maintaining all gear in safe working condition.
Power Systems Management: Install and manage temporary electrical power systems for post-production or remote event sites, ensuring stable energy flow for all technical units.
OHS Compliance: Strictly adhere to occupational health and safety procedures, ensuring that the "Physical Execution" of the event never compromises the safety of the crew or audience.
Qualifications and Skills:
Professional Profile
Education: OND, HND, or B.Sc in Engineering, Technical Studies, or a related field.
Experience: Minimum of 1 year of robust experience in stage rigging or lighting technology.
Physicality: Must be comfortable with heights (climbing), heavy lifting, and the rigging of machinery.
Core Competencies
Electrical Grit: Strong knowledge of lighting control devices and temporary power systems.
Analytical Prowess: Ability to calculate load weights and structural requirements on the fly.
Operational Resilience: Readiness to work onsite in Lagos across film sets, television studios, and live event venues.
