Job Description:
At Mechanic on the Go (MOTG), the Technical Service Advisor (TSA) is the vital link between customers and the workshop floor. You’ll turn complex mechanical issues into plain language, coordinate service jobs from start to finish, and perform final quality checks before handing over vehicles. This role requires a skilled communicator, an organised coordinator, and a sharp-eyed quality inspector — all with an unwavering commitment to customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Handling
Greet walk-in customers, answer calls/messages, and record complaints.
Ask targeted questions to clearly identify vehicle faults.
Explain issues and repair solutions in simple, non-technical terms.
Provide accurate quotes, secure customer approvals, and keep clients informed on job progress.
Job Coordination
Create clear, detailed job cards for mechanics based on customer complaints.
Work with the Workshop Manager to prioritise tasks.
Track job progress, updating customers promptly if timelines change.
Confirm parts availability and follow up on orders as required.
Quality Assurance
Perform a final quality check before vehicle delivery, including:
Verifying all listed jobs are completed.
Checking for warning lights, leaks, and unusual noises.
Ensuring interior and exterior cleanliness.
Confirming no tools or spare parts are left inside the car.
Conducting test drives when necessary (with approval).
Sales & Retention
Promote MOTG’s preventive maintenance services.
Recommend additional services based on inspections or vehicle history.
Encourage repeat business with excellent service and follow-up reminders.
Administration
Issue accurate invoices and receipts.
Maintain complete records of work done, quotes, and customer feedback.
Track jobs from intake to delivery with no detail missed.
Qualifications & Skills
Previous experience as a Service Advisor, Technical Advisor, or in automotive customer service.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Knowledge of automotive systems, repair processes, and parts.
Excellent organisational and multitasking abilities.
Ability to translate technical issues into easy-to-understand terms.
Proficiency with service management or CRM software is a plus.
Requirements:
- Basic technical knowledge of cars — enough to explain problems and do basic visual checks.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Strong organisational skills; able to juggle multiple cars and customers at once.
- Integrity and honesty in all dealings.
- Computer literacy for invoicing, scheduling, and job tracking.
- Minimum of 1–2 years’ experience in a similar automotive or technical role (preferred).
Performance KPIs
- Customer satisfaction rating.
- Accuracy of job documentation.
- Number of comebacks due to missed faults.
- Job completion time vs. estimated time.
- Repeat business and upsell conversion rate.
Salary
