We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Description:
- We are seeking a detail-oriented QS who will be responsible for managing all aspects of cost estimation, financial planning, contract administration, and budgetary control for assigned construction and infrastructure projects.
- This includes preparing BOQs, evaluating tenders, negotiating contracts, ensuring value-for-money procurement, and presenting accurate cost reports to management and clients.
- This role requires strong analytical, negotiation, and presentation skills, as well as a deep understanding of both government contract procedures and private sector (including hotel and commercial development) project requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare Bills of Quantities (BOQs), cost plans, and feasibility studies for new projects.
- Provide preliminary and detailed cost estimates during project design and planning.
- Advise on cost implications of design changes and variations.
- Prepare tender documents and evaluate contractor and subcontractor bids.
- Conduct contract negotiations and ensure compliance with contractual obligations. Monitor project expenditures and track against approved budgets.
- Prepare interim and final payment certificates.
- Provide monthly and quarterly financial reports on assigned projects.
- Advise management on cost-saving opportunities and risk management.
- Source, evaluate, and recommend suppliers and subcontractors.
- Ensure value-for-money procurement and adherence to procurement policies.
- Maintain strong relationships with vendors, contractors, and consultants.
- Work closely with Engineers, Architects, and Project managers to control costs.
- Track variations, claims, and change orders to minimize financial risk.
- Conduct site visits for progress valuation and verification of claims.
- Ensure compliance with statutory regulations, industry standards, and client specifications.
- Maintain proper records of all project cost-related documents.
- Any other assignment as it may be assigned by the Senior Management & CEO.
Requirements:
- BSc / HND in Quantity Surveying or related field (Master’s degree is an advantage).
- Minimum 2 - 5 years of relevant experience in construction or infrastructure projects.
- Professional certification (NIQS, RICS, or equivalent) is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of construction contracts (FIDIC, JCT, NEC, local procurement regulations).
- Excellent skills in cost estimation, BOQ preparation, and project cost control.
- Proficiency in MS Excel, AutoCAD, and QS software (e.g., CostX, WinQS, or similar).
- Strong analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to present reports clearly to management and clients.
- High integrity, attention to detail, and ability to work under pressure.
