Job Description:
Product Strategy & Ownership:
- Own the end-to-end product strategy for all bill payment and transfer products, including:
- Airtime and mobile data purchases
- Utility bill payments (electricity, cable television, internet, etc.)
- Bank-to-bank transfers
- Translate Renmoney’s long-term digital banking strategy into a clear roadmap for payments.
- Define how payments support:
- Daily customer engagement
- Deposit inflows and account usage
- Cross-sell into savings and lending products
- Define value propositions for different customer segments, including retail customers and small business users.
Payments Performance & Commercial Outcomes:
- Own key performance indicators for payments, including:
- Transaction volumes and values
- Success and failure rates
- Revenue from fees or commissions
- Cost per transaction
- Work closely with Finance to:
- Optimize transaction pricing and incentives
- Manage partner costs and margins
- Track the impact of payments on deposit balances
- Identify opportunities to improve unit economics without degrading customer experience.
Execution & Delivery:
- Lead cross-functional delivery with:
- Engineering teams building mobile, web, and backend systems
- Design teams responsible for user experience
- Operations and Customer Support teams handling exceptions and disputes
- Write clear Product Requirement Documents, which describe what is being built, why it matters, and how success will be measured.
- Prioritize initiatives based on customer impact, reliability, compliance, effort, and business value.
- Ensure payment and transfer flows are fast, intuitive, and resilient, even during peak usage periods.
Reliability, Risk & Compliance:
- Ensure payments products meet regulatory and operational requirements, including:
- Rules set by the Central Bank of Nigeria, which regulates banking and payment services
- Requirements from the Nigeria Inter-Bank Settlement System, which operates national payment infrastructure
- Data privacy rules under the Nigeria Data Protection Regulation
- Partner with Risk and Compliance teams to manage:
- Fraud risks
- Transaction disputes and reversals
- Customer protection and error handling
- Represent payments initiatives in the Product Governance Council, which approves and oversees all product changes.
Partner & Ecosystem Management:
- Own product relationships with external partners such as:
- Payment processors
- Utility service providers
- Telecommunications companies
- Define service-level expectations, which set standards for uptime, response times, and issue resolution.
- Work with Legal, Procurement, and Operations to ensure partner integrations are scalable and compliant.
Customer Experience & Growth:
- Improve adoption and repeat usage of bill payments and transfers through:
- Simple onboarding and clear user flows
- Transparent pricing and confirmations
- Fast issue resolution when transactions fail
- Use payments as a driver of daily engagement that increases:
- Account funding
- Customer lifetime value
- Work with Analytics teams to understand usage patterns and identify growth opportunities.
Requirements:
- Experience working in regulated financial or fintech environments
- Proven track record of delivering reliable, high-volume systems
- Experience collaborating with Finance, Risk, Compliance, and Operations teams
Nice-to-Have:
- Experience with large-scale payment platforms or utility integrations
- Exposure to fraud prevention or dispute management systems
- Experience in high-growth fintech or digital banking environments
- Familiarity with analytics and monitoring tools for transaction performance

Qualifications and Skills:
- 6–10+ years of Product Management experience
- Direct experience with payments, transfers, or transaction-heavy digital products
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong understanding of payment flows and transaction lifecycles
- Ability to balance speed, reliability, risk, and cost
- Data-driven decision-making with strong execution discipline
- Clear communicator, comfortable engaging senior leadership
- High ownership mindset and attention to detail
