PROCUREMENT OFFICER AT FOOD CONCEPTS PLC | PROCUREMENT JOBS IN LAGOS

Lagos, Nigeria | Posted on 19/05/2026

About Company:

Food Concepts commenced operations in 2001. From inception, our aim has been clear-cut and focused: to revolutionize the food sector in West Africa and to deliver extraordinary satisfaction to our stakeholders.

Since launching in 2004, Chicken Republic (Subsidiary of Food concepts) has already opened 55 stores in Nigeria and Ghana. On this basis, we are proud of the brand’s hard-earned reputation as the fastest growing chicken QSR in West Africa and the number 1 chicken QSR in Nigeria (both in revenues and number of outlets). In addition, Chicken Republic was ranked as one of Nigeria’s top 20 brands across all categories (Financial Standards Awards 2009).

Job Description:

The Procurement Officer is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing best-in-class procurement systems that optimize vendor performance, guarantee supply security, and safeguard corporate margins. In this role, you will take operational ownership of the end-to-end purchasing lifecycle for restaurant raw materials, commercial kitchen equipment, packaging assets, and corporate services.

Operating at the center of our supply chain, you will bridge the gap between menu engineering demands and vendor capabilities—ensuring an unbroken, fully audited supply of premium goods while systematically driving down total cost of ownership (TCO) and mitigating agricultural and market supply risks.

Requirements:

1. High-Velocity Procurement Operations

  • Strategic Vendor Negotiation: Partner with external agricultural, packaging, and equipment vendors to negotiate multi-million Naira supply pacts, securing advantageous payment windows, volume discounts, and rigid Service Level Agreements (SLAs).

  • Demand Planning & Order Fulfillment: Analyze central inventory run-rates to accurately plan, forecast, and approve purchase orders (POs) for critical culinary ingredients and equipment, eliminating stockouts across all retail outlets.

  • Specification Calibration: Collaborate closely with Quality Assurance (QA), New Product Development (NPD), and Central Kitchen teams to clarify, document, and enforce exact technical material specifications.

  • Data Hygiene & Cataloging: Maintain and systematically update a centralized vendor database, meticulously tracking supplier risk ratings, quality compliance history, delivery lead times, and active price lists.

2. Strategic Cost Stewardship & Metrics Reporting

  • Financial Performance Tracking: Monitor, analyze, and report on core functional procurement data, identifying cost-leakages and implementing spend-optimization protocols to reduce general overheads.

  • Corporate Planning: Draft detailed short- and long-term procurement roadmaps for heavy machinery acquisitions, third-party maintenance services, and high-volume food commodities.

  • Documentary Governance: Compile, evaluate, and archive comprehensive purchasing reports for all active supplier contracts, presenting findings directly to Supply Chain Executives.

3. Risk Mitigation, Asset Control & Audit Readiness

  • Contract Risk Engineering: Conduct comprehensive risk assessments on active and prospective supply contracts, establishing strategic safety-stock thresholds to insulate the group from sudden currency fluctuations or agricultural deficits.

  • Process Transparency & Compliance: Enforce the company's internal procurement policies, ensuring a crystal-clear audit trail, total process transparency, and unambiguous definition of individual stakeholder roles.

  • Inventory & Asset Controls: Audit cold-chain and dry-store inventory balances, cross-referencing ledger entries against physical purchase logs to maintain absolute pricing and quantity precision.

Qualifications and Skills:

Education & Professional Certifications

  • Degree: A good First Degree (B.Sc. / HND) in the Social Sciences, Management Sciences, Physical Sciences, or a strictly related quantitative discipline from an accredited institution.

  • Professional Edge: Active membership or progressive certification in CIPS (Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply), CILT (Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport), CISCOM, or Lean Six Sigma frameworks will be treated as a major competitive advantage.

Experience & Sector Footprint

  • Domain Longevity: Minimum of two (2) years of progressive, verifiable experience operating within a structured procurement or sourcing capacity.

  • Sector Specialization: Direct experience managing supply chains, agricultural sourcing, cold-chain assets, or ingredient purchasing specifically within the QSR, Hospitality, Food Manufacturing, or FMCG sectors is highly essential.

Core Knowledge Requirements

  • Inventory Management: Practical understanding of Material Requirements Planning (MRP), Economic Order Quantity (EOQ) formulations, and FIFO stock rotation systems.

  • Cost Engineering: Demonstrated expertise in total landed cost mapping, price trend forecasting, and menu/ingredient yield cost analysis.

  • Regulatory Literacy: Strong working knowledge of local agricultural standards, NAFDAC regulations, SON guidelines, contract laws, and corporate governance compliance rules.

  • Technical Stack: Deep proficiency utilizing enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) procurement modules (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or Microsoft Dynamics) and advanced Microsoft Excel for supply chain data analysis.
