Job Description:

We are seeking a high-velocity and analytically sharp Politics Reporter to anchor our coverage across the Lagos and Ogun State axis. In a high-stakes election and governance cycle, success is defined by "Narrative Sovereignty", the ability to harmonize breaking news with the clinical deep-dives required to uncover policy implications, legislative shifts, and grassroots political movements. This role is designed for a "Journalistic Architect" with at least 2 years of experience who can blend "Investigative Grit" with the "Diplomatic Agility" required to engage high-level stakeholders, party leaders, and civic activists.

Requirements:

1. Intelligence Gathering & Beat Orchestration

• Political Reconnaissance: Develop and maintain a high-trust network of sources within government houses, legislative assemblies (Lagos/Ogun), and political parties to secure exclusive "Source of Truth" insights.

• Governance Monitoring: Track and report on the implementation of state policies and local government administration with clinical precision, focusing on transparency and accountability.

• Election Lifecycle Management: Lead the coverage of party primaries, rallies, and electoral processes, providing voters with high-fidelity data and objective analysis.

2. Multi-Platform Narrative Engineering

• Cross-Channel Delivery: Produce high-impact news stories, features, and analysis for print, digital, and social media platforms, ensuring "Zero-Bottleneck" dissemination of breaking news.

• Multimedia Integration: Collaborate with photography and video teams to create visually compelling political content, including interviews, infographics of election data, and "on-the-scene" live reporting.

• Editorial Fidelity: Ensure every report adheres to millimetric standards of accuracy, balance, and legal compliance to protect the media house from litigation or reputational risk.

3. Analysis & Public Advocacy

• Policy Synthesis: Translate complex legislative bills and political maneuvers into clear, value-driven narratives that resonate with the average citizen.

• Digital Engagement: Monitor audience trends and social media sentiment to tailor political coverage that drives high-velocity engagement and informed public discourse.

• Fact-Checking Sovereignty: Serve as a clinical barrier against "Fake News" by verifying claims made by political actors before publication.

Qualifications and Skills:

Professional Profile

• Experience: Minimum of 2 years of robust work experience within a reputable media house.

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree or HND in Mass Communication, Journalism, Political Science, or a related field.

• Location: Must be able to work Full-Time with mobility across the Lagos and Ogun State corridor.
