Job Description:
We are seeking a technically disciplined and safety-conscious Maintenance Technician to join our operations in Lekki. This is a vital role designed for a "hands-on" mechanic who understands that in a concrete manufacturing environment, equipment reliability is the heartbeat of production.
Your mission is to ensure 100% plant readiness. You will be responsible for the end-to-end maintenance of our heavy plant assets—from troubleshooting power outages and servicing generators to coordinating truck maintenance with the workshop. If you are a proactive technician with a "Zero-Breakdown" mindset and a deep commitment to occupational health and safety, we want you on our team.
Requirements:
1. Preventive Maintenance & Operational Uptime
Plant Readiness: Execute rigorous daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance checklists to ensure the plant is fully operational and ready for production cycles.
Power & Utilities Management: Take full ownership of generator operations, responding immediately to power outages, water shortages, and tool supply needs.
Asset Tracking: Maintain meticulous, up-to-date records of uptime, downtime, and hour meter readings for all generators and trucks to inform life-cycle planning.
2. Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Leadership
Safety Stewardship: Ensure total compliance with safety standards, specifically promoting awareness during the operation of heavy equipment in the presence of ground personnel.
Verification & Leadership (VFL): Conduct a minimum of two Visible Felt Leadership (VFL) sessions monthly to identify hazards and reinforce safe working behaviors.
Contractor Oversight: Provide technical guidance and safety supervision to external contractors performing specialized work within the plant.
3. Team Development & Technical Liaison
Skill Transfer: Coach and train production assistants in basic maintenance techniques, ensuring a culture of collective equipment care.
Workshop Integration: Act as the primary technical liaison with the workshop to expedite repairs and maintain a seamless flow between plant operations and fleet maintenance.
Logistics Support: Assist the production team in the coordination of trucks and drivers to ensure efficient load-out and delivery schedules.
Qualifications and Skills:
Professional Profile
Education: Completion of a recognized Vocational Education Program in a related field (Mechanical) within an industrial setting.
Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience as a maintenance mechanic, specifically within a concrete manufacturing plant or similar heavy industrial environment.
Licensing: Possession and maintenance of a valid Driver’s License.
Core Competencies
HSE Mastery: Advanced knowledge of occupational health and safety standards.
Technical Documentation: Ability to maintain accurate, audit-ready logs for asset running times and maintenance history.
