Job Description:

We are seeking a highly experienced and disciplined Logistics Manager to oversee the specialized supply chain and transport operations of explosive materials at our Abanla facility. This is a high-stakes role requiring a professional who combines technical expertise in hazardous materials (HAZMAT) handling with rigorous administrative and regulatory oversight. You will be responsible for the end-to-end flow of explosives from magazine storage and inventory control to secure, compliant transportation and delivery to client destinations.

The ideal candidate is a strategic leader with deep knowledge of Nigerian explosives regulations and a commitment to "zero-loss" operational excellence.

Requirements:

Explosives Magazine & Inventory Management

  • Inventory Oversight: Ensure the accurate receipt, secure storage, and authorized issuance of all explosive materials, raw materials, and spare parts.

  • Audit & Control: Conduct regular physical stock counts and audits to eradicate losses caused by damage, theft, or product expiration.

  • Documentation: Maintain meticulous records including delivery notes, waybills, invoices, and customs documents for any imported or exported materials.

Transportation & Fleet Coordination

  • Route Planning: Plan and secure efficient transport routes, ensuring timely dispatch to clients while minimizing transit risks.

  • Fleet Management: Monitor vehicle utilization and fuel usage; manage strict schedules for servicing, repairs, licensing, and insurance renewals.

  • Movement Coordination: Supervise the transfer of materials between magazines and finalize deliveries to diverse client sites.

Safety, Security & Regulatory Compliance

  • HAZMAT Protocols: Enforce strict adherence to safety and security protocols to prevent unauthorized access and ensure the safe transport of hazardous materials.

  • Government Liaison: Assist in managing relationships with relevant government bodies to maintain explosive permits and compliance.

  • Legal Expertise: Ensure operations align with the Ministry of Mines and Steel Development requirements, End-User Certificates (EUCs), and NSA regulations.

Leadership & People Management

  • Team Supervision: Lead and manage Magazine staff, drivers, and Store Officers to maintain high operational standards.

  • Staff Development: Conduct training sessions on standard operating procedures (SOPs) and safety protocols.

  • Data Analysis: Analyze logistics data to support budget preparation and implement effective cost-control measures.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Education:

    • B.Sc. or MBA/M.Sc. in Logistics Management, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.

  • Experience:

    • 5 – 10 years of experience in Logistics, Warehouse Operations, or Transportation.

    • Direct experience in handling explosives or hazardous materials is highly regarded.

  • Professional Memberships:

    • Must be a member of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) Nigeria.

    • Membership in the Association for Supply Chain Management (ASCM) is an ideal requirement.

  • Technical Skills:

    • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP systems.

    • In-depth understanding of Inventory Control systems and transportation laws.

  • Regulatory Knowledge:

    • Familiarity with Nigerian laws regarding explosive handling, including Ministry of Mines permits and NSA regulations.

₦350,000 - ₦400,000/month
