Job Description:
We are seeking a highly creative and technically curious Video Editor (Intern) to join our production team in Lagos. In a world dominated by short-form content and digital narratives, success is defined by "Engagement Retention", the ability to cut, color, and pace footage so effectively that it captures and holds the viewer’s attention. This role is designed for a "Visual Architect in Training" who possesses a strong foundation in editing software and a hunger to refine their craft within a fast-paced professional agency or media house.
Your mission is to support the transformation of raw footage into polished, high-fidelity video assets. You will be a key part of the post-production cycle: responsible for rough cuts, motion graphics support, and ensuring audio-visual synchronization across multiple platforms (social media, YouTube, and corporate presentations). If you have a "keen eye for detail," a passion for non-linear editing, and a desire to build an elite portfolio, we want you to grow with us.
Requirements:
1. Post-Production Execution & Rough Cuts
Narrative Assembly: Sift through raw footage to identify the best takes and assemble them into a cohesive story or message based on a storyboard or creative brief.
Format Optimization: Edit content for various platforms, ensuring the correct aspect ratios (9:16 for Reels/TikTok, 16:9 for YouTube/TV) and export settings are maintained.
Audio-Visual Sync: Align multi-cam footage and synchronize external audio recordings to ensure flawless playback.
2. Visual Enhancement & Motion Graphics
Color Grading: Apply basic color correction and grading to ensure visual consistency across different lighting conditions and cameras.
Text & Overlays: Integrate lower-thirds, subtitles, and call-to-action (CTA) graphics to enhance message clarity and accessibility.
Sound Design: Source and layer background music, sound effects (SFX), and perform basic audio leveling to create an immersive viewing experience.
3. Asset Management & Collaboration
Library Governance: Maintain an organized project file structure, ensuring all b-roll, audio files, and project project saves are easily retrievable.
Feedback Integration: Work closely with Senior Editors and Creative Directors to implement revisions and refine cuts based on client or internal feedback.
Trend Analysis: Stay updated on current editing trends, transitions, and social media viral styles to keep the brand’s content fresh and relevant.
Qualifications and Skills:
Professional Profile
Education: Currently pursuing or recently completed a Degree/Diploma in Media Studies, Mass Communication, Cinematography, or a related creative field.
Software Proficiency: A working knowledge of Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or DaVinci Resolve. Experience with After Effects or Photoshop is a major advantage.
Portfolio: A showreel or a folder of previous work (school projects or personal edits) is mandatory to demonstrate technical ability.
Core Competencies
Creative Grit: Ability to handle repetitive tasks and multiple revisions while maintaining a high standard of creativity.
Time Management: Strong organizational skills to meet tight deadlines in a high-velocity production environment.
Learning Agility: A proactive attitude toward learning new tools, shortcuts, and storytelling techniques.
