Job Description:
We are seeking a commercially minded and meticulous Hospitality Unit Accountant to anchor the financial operations of our hospitality division. This role is designed for a professional who understands the fast-paced nature of the industry—where daily revenue reconciliations, food and beverage (F&B) costing, and tight inventory controls are the lifeblood of profitability. You will be responsible for the full accounting cycle, from Point-of-Sale (POS) audits to the preparation of comprehensive management reports. The ideal candidate is a "Financial Controller" at heart, possessing the integrity to identify leakages and the analytical skill to optimize our cost of sales.
Requirements:
1. Revenue Assurance & Financial Reporting
POS Reconciliation: Audit and reconcile daily revenue across all streams (Kitchen, Bar, Rooms, and Events) against POS reports, bank deposits, and cash-at-hand.
Management Reporting: Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements that provide a clear picture of unit performance.
Payroll & Incentives: Oversee the accurate disbursement of staff salaries, advances, and service charge/incentive payouts.
2. Cost Control & Inventory Forensics
Variance Analysis: Monitor food and beverage consumption against purchases, performing deep-dive variance analysis to identify wastage or pilferage.
Stock Governance: Collaborate with Procurement and Store Officers to conduct regular physical stock counts and reconcile them against theoretical usage.
Margin Optimization: Identify areas of leakage and recommend cost-saving measures to improve the overall bottom line.
3. Compliance & Cash Flow Stewardship
Statutory Filings: Ensure 100% compliance with Nigerian tax laws, including timely filing of VAT, WHT, and PAYE.
Liquidity Management: Prepare cash flow forecasts and monitor expenditure against approved budgets to ensure optimal liquidity for daily operations.
Audit Support: Maintain an impeccable digital and physical filing system to support internal and external audit requirements.
Qualifications and Skills:
Education & Professional Standing
Academic: B.Sc. or HND in Accounting or Finance.
Advantage: Professional certification (ICAN or ACCA) is highly preferred (completed or in progress).
Technical Mastery: High proficiency in QuickBooks, Sage, or specialized Hospitality ERPs and advanced MS Excel.
Experience & Skills
Tenure: Minimum of 4 years of hands-on experience specifically within a hotel, restaurant, or lounge setting (this is mandatory).
Industry IQ: Solid understanding of hospitality-specific workflows, including front-desk booking systems, kitchen production, and bar management.
Mindset: High integrity with a "forensic" attention to detail and the ability to work under the pressure of tight deadlines.
