Job Description:

Position Title: Executive Head of Finance and Accounts 

Reports: Managing Director/ Chief Executive Officer (CEO) or Board of Advisors 

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Financial Leadership: 

• Develop and implement financial strategies aligned with the company’s goals. 
• Provide financial insights to support strategic decision-making and business growth. 

Financial Planning & Analysis: 

• Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling processes to ensure accurate projections.
• Evaluate potential investment opportunities to maximize returns while minimizing risks. 
• Analyze financial performance, identify risks, and recommend corrective actions. 

Compliance & Finance Risk Management: 

• Ensure compliance with international financial regulations (e.g., IFRS/GAAP). 
• Conduct operations and finance risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies to safeguard assets and preserve value. 

Operational Excellence: 

• Supervise all accounting operations, including accounts payable/receivable, payroll, tax planning, and audits. 
• Optimize financial processes to improve efficiency and reduce costs across locations. 

Team Leadership & Development: 

• Lead a diverse team of finance professionals across multiple geographies. 
• Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and collaboration within the finance department. 

Stakeholder Engagement: 

Build strong relationships with investors, regulators, auditors, and business partners.  Prepare detailed reports for board meetings on financial performance and strategic initiatives. 

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs): 

• Achievement of revenue growth targets through effective cost management strategies.  Timely delivery of accurate financial reports and forecasts.
• Compliance with all regulatory requirements across operational regions.

Requirements:

Qualifications and Skills:

The ideal candidate for the role of Executive Head of Finance and Accounts in an international merchandise company should meet the following criteria: 

Qualifications: Chartered Accountant (CA) certification is mandatory. Additional qualifications are valuable.

Experience: A minimum of 10 years in finance, with at least 5 years in senior leadership roles in an international trading or merchandise-focused organization. 

Skills and Competence

• High level of technical competence in financial management, accounting principles, and regulatory compliance (e.g., IFRS or GAAP). 
• Strong analytical and decision-making abilities. 
• Proficiency in financial software and ERP systems such as SAP or QuickBooks. 
• Excellent leadership qualities to manage diverse teams across multiple locations. 
• Exceptional communication skills to engage with stakeholders and board members effectively.
