Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled and methodical Database Administrator (DBA) to join our technical team in Ikeja. In this critical role, you will be the custodian of our data ecosystem, responsible for designing, building, and maintaining high-availability database systems that empower our end users. You will ensure that data is not only secure and integrated but also distributed rapidly to those who need it. If you are a problem-solver with a strong algorithmic mindset, deep SQL expertise, and a passion for optimizing performance and recovery, we want you to manage our critical data infrastructure.

Requirements:

• Database Design & Architecture: Build and implement database systems tailored to specific end-user roles, ensuring data views and information needs are met with high quality.

• Performance & Availability: Proactively monitor database performance, manage parameters, and minimize downtime to ensure lightning-fast query response times.

• Security & Integrity: Enforce rigorous data security, privacy, and integrity standards. Perform regular evaluations, audits, and apply necessary patches/version upgrades.

• Recovery & Backup: Execute robust high-speed transaction recovery techniques and automated backup schedules to safeguard against data loss.

• User Access & Distribution: Define user access levels, enabling secure data distribution to the right users in the correct format at the right time.

• Proactive Support: Provide reactive and proactive data management support and training to internal teams.

• Policy & Documentation: Develop, enforce, and maintain comprehensive database policies, procedures, and technical documentation.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Education: HND in a Computer Science discipline or a relevant professional certification.

• Experience: Proven, hands-on experience as a Database Administrator in a professional environment.

• Core Competencies:

  • SQL Mastery: Expert knowledge of data backup, recovery, security, integrity, and SQL.

  • Technical Proficiency: Strong familiarity with database design, documentation, and coding.

  • Tooling: Experience with DBA case tools (frontend/backend) and relevant third-party management tools.

  • Integration: Familiarity with programming languages and API integration.

  • Mindset: Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to think algorithmically to resolve complex data challenges.
