Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled GCP Platform Engineer to serve as the backbone of our cloud operations. In this role, you will design, build, and maintain a rapidly scaling infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform, taking full ownership of our CI/CD pipelines and environment management.

This is not a traditional maintenance role; you will be a strategic architect, driving automation through Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and establishing the security and reliability best practices that allow our engineering teams to ship code faster and more securely.

Requirements:

Cloud Architecture & Infrastructure

• Infrastructure Design: Architect and maintain highly available, scalable, and secure environments on GCP using GKE, Compute Engine, Cloud Run, and Cloud SQL.

• Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Develop and test complex deployments using Terraform. You will be responsible for building reusable modules and managing state effectively across dev, staging, and production environments.

• Observability: Implement comprehensive monitoring, alerting, and logging using Google Cloud Operations suite, Prometheus, or Grafana to ensure 24/7 system health.

Automation & Pipeline Engineering

• CI/CD Optimization: Build and maintain robust pipelines in GitLab, automating everything from code linting and security scanning to multi-environment deployments.

• Custom Tooling: Write automation scripts and internal tools in Python or Bash to streamline operational tasks that fall outside standard IaC workflows.

Networking & Security

• Secure Networking: Architect secure VPCs, manage firewalls, and configure hybrid connectivity and secure VPN routing.

• Identity Management: Enforce the principle of least privilege by managing IAM roles and ensuring a "security-first" cloud posture.

Collaboration & Mentorship

• SME Leadership: Act as the subject matter expert for GCP and Terraform, conducting architecture reviews and mentoring peers on cloud best practices.

• Cross-Functional Partnership: Work closely with Software Engineering, QA, and Security teams to integrate workflows seamlessly.

Qualifications and Skills:

• GCP Mastery: Deep, hands-on expertise in core services, specifically Compute, GKE/Kubernetes, VPC networking, and IAM.

• IaC Expertise: Proven experience writing production-grade Terraform, including module creation and state management.

• CI/CD Proficiency: Strong experience with GitLab for source control and building complex, multi-stage automated pipelines.

• Programming: Proficiency in Python or Go for infrastructure scripting and API interactions.

• Networking Knowledge: Solid understanding of DNS, TCP/IP, subnets, and routing.

• Problem-Solving: Strong troubleshooting skills in distributed systems and high-stakes production environments.

Bonus Points:

• Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect or DevOps Engineer certification.

• Experience with FinOps and cloud cost-optimization.

• Background in Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices.
