As part of an historic multi-million pound expansion of BBC Africa, the BBC World Service is introducing a wide range of new and exciting language and regional content to serve African and global audiences.
Job Description:
We are seeking a creative and technically agile Assistant Digital Producer to support our Social and Behaviour Change Communication (SBCC) programme in Northern Nigeria. In the context of reproductive health and child spacing, success is defined by "Narrative Resonance", the ability to produce multimedia content that is culturally nuanced, editorially sound, and visually compelling enough to influence real-world behavior. 2. Strategic Platform Management & Engagement
Multilingual Scheduling: Manage and schedule daily/weekly content across BBC Media Action’s digital platforms in English, Pidgin English, and Hausa.
Community Intelligence: Analyze in-platform metrics and referral data to gain deep insights into community behavior and optimize for traction and reach.
Strategy Implementation: Execute digital strategies that ensure our outputs remain competitive and influential in a dynamic media landscape.
3. Editorial Integrity & Research
BBC Standards Governance: Ensure all digital content adheres to strict BBC Editorial Guidelines, emphasizing accuracy, clarity, and impartiality.
Field Research & Content Capture: Plan and conduct interviews and discussions, ensuring all information is factually accurate and culturally sensitive to the Northern Nigerian context.
Visual Stewardship: Conduct picture research and image editing to ensure a strong, consistent visual identity across all digital outputs.
Qualifications and Skills:
Professional Profile
Experience: Proven track record in producing content for the web or social media, preferably in a news or development context.
Technical Mastery: Fluency in Adobe Premiere Pro or Adobe After Effects is essential.
Editorial Judgment: A sound understanding of BBC editorial values and the ability to apply them to diverse content genres.
Language Skills: Clear, fluent writing in English and Pidgin English. Fluency in written Hausa is a significant advantage.
Core Competencies
Creative Innovation: Ability to develop fresh strategies for individual posts and long-term platform management.
