About Company:
was established to support the accelerating growth in Nigeria by making the country self-reliant for steel rebars and eliminating its dependence on imported rebars. AFL is set up to reach a 0.5 million-ton per year capacity for high strength rebars and allied products.
Job Description:
We are seeking a high-potential and analytically rigorous Graduate Trainee – Metallurgical and Materials Engineer to anchor our engineering and production teams. In the world of high-performance manufacturing, success is defined by "Material Sovereignty", the ability to harmonize chemical compositions and thermal processes to ensure the structural longevity of every component produced. This role is designed for an "Engineering Architect" with 0–2 years of experience who can blend "Laboratory Precision" with the "Operational Grit" required to monitor heat treatment, casting, and fabrication cycles.
Your mission is to ensure "Absolute Material Integrity and Quality Excellence." You will be the primary engine of technical analysis: responsible for conducting microstructure evaluations, performing clinical failure analysis, and supporting the optimization of metallurgical workflows. If you possess "Strong Analytical Skills," a background in Materials Science, and the "Technical Curiosity" to master materials characterization, we want you to drive our engineering sovereignty.
Requirements:
1. Project Orchestration & Infrastructure Governance
Execution Architecture: Develop and execute detailed project plans for the installation of critical power hardware, including UPS, Inverters, Rectifiers, ATS Panels, and Transformers.
Team Governance: Form and lead specialized project teams, ensuring the perfect mix of technical competencies to meet customer specifications and quality standards.
Risk Mitigation: Early identification of technical bottlenecks or site-level risks, implementing corrective actions to prevent delays in the commissioning timeline.
2. Installation & Commissioning Sovereignty
Systems Integration: Lead the end-to-end installation and testing of power systems, verifying that every component—from Lithium/VRLA banks to AC/DC distribution panels—functions as a cohesive unit.
Validation & Acceptance: Conduct final site inspections and acceptance testing with customers, ensuring all as-built documentation is accurate and reflects design specifications.
Handover Governance: Ensure a seamless transition from the project phase to operations through meticulous documentation and stakeholder briefings.
3. Pre-Sales Engineering & Technical Support
Feasibility Intelligence: Conduct comprehensive site surveys and load-sizing calculations (cable sizing, battery autonomy, etc.) to inform the pre-sales phase.
Proposal Architecture: Review and refine technical proposals, ensuring that proposed solutions are not only commercially viable but practically executable in the field.
Solution Advocacy: Participate in technical discussions and presentations, acting as the subject matter expert to resolve customer queries.
4. Resilience, Maintenance & Troubleshooting
Preventive Stewardship: Execute scheduled maintenance to maximize the longevity of power assets and prevent catastrophic system failure.
Reactive Recovery: Lead the troubleshooting and root-cause analysis (RCA) of system faults, providing prompt emergency support to restore power continuity.
Service Fidelity: Maintain high-accuracy maintenance logs and service records to provide a transparent health history of the assigned customer sites.
Qualifications and Skills:
Professional Profile
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or a related discipline.
Experience: Proven experience in managing electrical projects specifically within the Telecom or Industrial Power sector.
Technical Mastery: Deep knowledge of DC Power Systems, Rectifiers, Inverters, and High-Capacity Battery Storage (Lithium-ion & VRLA).
Core Competencies
Engineering Calculation: Proficiency in load sizing, voltage drop calculations, and battery autonomy modeling.
Leadership Prowess: Ability to mentor junior engineers and manage third-party contractors effectively.
Project Management: Skilled in project planning, progress monitoring, and stakeholder coordination.
