Job Description:

We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Accountant to oversee and manage the company’s financial operations. This position plays a vital role in ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in a fast-paced, inventory-focused environment. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in accounting within the trading or retail sector, with strong expertise in cost analysis, inventory accounting, and supplier/vendor reconciliation.

 

Key Responsibilities

Inventory & Cost Accounting

  • Track inventory movements and conduct regular stock reconciliations across warehouses and showrooms.

  • Accurately record cost of goods sold (COGS), purchase orders, and landed costs.

  • Support pricing reviews and margin analysis for products such as tiles, doors, and bathroom fittings.

Accounts Payable & Receivable

  • Reconcile supplier accounts and manage payment timelines.

  • Monitor customer receivables and follow up on overdue accounts.

  • Post invoices, credit notes, and receipts accurately in the system.

Cash Flow & Banking Operations

  • Manage daily banking transactions and reconcile bank statements.

  • Prepare cash flow forecasts to support liquidity management.

  • Collaborate with sales and procurement teams to optimize cash usage.

Budgeting & Financial Planning

  • Assist in preparing annual budgets and monitor performance against forecasts.

  • Provide variance analysis and contribute to cost control initiatives.

  • Align financial planning with inventory management alongside procurement and warehouse teams.

Internal Controls & Process Improvements

  • Strengthen internal controls, especially around inventory and sales.

  • Recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency and reporting accuracy.

  • Maintain thorough documentation and audit trails for all transactions.

Requirements:

  • Familiarity with vendor negotiations, logistics costs, and warehousing operations.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.
  • Demonstrated initiative and problem-solving abilities.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum 1–2 years of experience in accounting, preferably in a trading or distribution company.
  • Solid understanding of inventory accounting and retail/trading financial operations.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Sage 50 and Zoho).
  • Strong command of Microsoft Excel and other financial analysis tools.
  • Excellent attention to detail, integrity, and organizational skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively across teams.

Salary

₦150,000 - ₦200,000/month
