We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Description:

• The Credit Officer is responsible for evaluating loan applications, assessing the creditworthiness of potential borrowers, managing the loan portfolio, and ensuring timely repayment.
• The officer plays a key role in client relationship management, risk assessment, and supporting financial growth through responsible lending.

Key Responsibilities

• Identify, screen, and recruit potential borrowers from individuals, groups, or businesses.
• Conduct credit appraisals and assess loan applications to determine viability and creditworthiness.
• Present loan applications to the credit committee for approval.
• Disburse approved loans and ensure proper documentation and client understanding of terms.
• Monitor and manage the loan portfolio to minimize delinquency and default.
• Follow up on repayments, send reminders, and initiate recovery procedures for overdue loans.
• Maintain accurate client records and update loan files regularly.
• Educate clients on responsible borrowing and financial literacy.
• Ensure compliance with credit policies, risk management frameworks, and regulatory requirements.

Requirements:

• Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Banking, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
• 1–3 years of experience in a credit-related role, preferably in a microfinance institution, SACCO, or bank.
• Knowledge of credit assessment techniques and lending procedures.
• Experience in portfolio management and client monitoring.
• Strong analytical and risk assessment skills.
