Job Description:
Glow FM is seeking a competent and organized Studio Manager to oversee the daily operations of our broadcast studio. This role is designed for a technical and operational leader who understands the high-stakes environment of live radio. You will be responsible for ensuring that every programme, news bulletin, and interview runs seamlessly, maintaining the highest professional broadcast standards.
The ideal candidate is a disciplined coordinator who can manage both sophisticated audio equipment and diverse personalities from presenters and newscasters to engineers while remaining calm under the pressure of live airtime.
Requirements:
Live Broadcast Coordination
Operational Oversight: Oversee the daily organization of the broadcast studio, ensuring a professional environment for all staff and guests.
Session Management: Coordinate the transition between live shows, news segments, and recorded programmes to ensure zero "dead air."
Technical Support: Supervise the setup of microphones, mixers, and playback systems before every broadcast and provide real-time support to OAPs and guests.
Quality Control & Engineering Liaison
Audio Monitoring: Monitor sound quality, audio levels, and signal flow to ensure peak broadcast clarity.
Troubleshooting: Work closely with the Engineering Department to identify, report, and resolve technical hardware or software issues rapidly.
Studio Maintenance: Operate and supervise the use of studio consoles and recording tools, ensuring equipment is handled with care and discipline.
Production & Workflow Management
Scheduling: Manage studio bookings, programme timing, and guest readiness to keep the production schedule on track.
Content Archiving: Support the recording, editing, and archiving of broadcast materials for future use or digital distribution.
Process Improvement: Continuously seek ways to improve studio workflow and operational efficiency to enhance overall broadcast quality.
Qualifications and Skills:
Education: OND, HND, or Degree in Media, Engineering, or a related field (Practical experience is highly prioritized).
Experience:
Proven experience in radio broadcasting, studio operations, or sound production.
Deep understanding of live broadcast workflows and signal flow.
Technical Proficiency:
Ability to operate studio equipment, including mixers, microphones, and audio routing tools.
Familiarity with Adobe Audition, radio automation software, or livestreaming tools is a significant advantage.
