Job Description:

We are seeking a high-caliber, disciplined Senior Accountant to lead the financial operations of a premier transport company. This is a high-impact leadership role where you will partner directly with the Group Head of Finance to drive the firm’s operational excellence and bottom-line profitability. You will be responsible for overseeing a team of accountants, enforcing rigorous financial controls, and translating complex data into actionable strategies. The ideal candidate is a firm, accountable leader who thrives in a performance-driven environment and possesses the technical mastery to manage full-cycle accounting within the fast-paced logistics industry.

Requirements:

1. Leadership & Corporate Governance

• Team Orchestration: Lead, mentor, and oversee a high-performing accounting department, fostering a culture of precision, discipline, and absolute accountability.

• Policy Enforcement: Ensure strict adherence to corporate governance and internal financial policies across all business units.

• Strategic Partnership: Collaborate closely with the Female Group Head of Finance to shape long-term financial strategy and navigate business-critical decisions.

2. Profitability & Operational Analysis

• Performance Analytics: Analyze key performance metrics (KPIs) unique to the transport sector—such as fuel efficiency, maintenance costs, and route profitability—to drive daily earnings.

• Strategy Implementation: Develop and implement actionable financial strategies to optimize cash flow and reduce operational leakages.

• Budgetary Control: Manage the full cycle of budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis to ensure the company remains on track with its annual financial goals.

3. Financial Reporting & Systems Management

• Full-Cycle Accounting: Oversee comprehensive accounting operations, including month-end closures, complex reconciliations, and tax management.

• Reporting Excellence: Ensure the delivery of timely, accurate, and transparent financial statements to senior management and stakeholders.

• ERP Stewardship: Leverage QuickBooks and other ERP platforms to automate reporting and improve the integrity of financial data.

Qualifications and Skills:

Profile & Experience

• Gender/Descent: Male, of Igbo descent (as per client’s specific organizational requirement).

• Tenure: Minimum of 5 years in a managerial accounting role with a demonstrable track record of leadership.

• Professional Certification: ACA, ICAN, or an equivalent professional qualification is strongly preferred.

• Industry Experience: Direct experience in the transport, logistics, or haulage industry is a significant advantage.
