Job Description:
We are seeking a highly experienced and disciplined Senior Accountant to lead our financial operations in Abule-Egba. As a key strategic officer, you will be responsible for tracking cash flow, financial planning, and conducting deep-dive analyses of the company’s financial strengths and weaknesses. You will play a pivotal role in maintaining internal controls, ensuring the integrity of our financial data, and proposing corrective actions to drive business sustainability.
The ideal candidate is a Chartered Accountant with extensive experience in the downstream oil and gas sector, capable of managing complex reconciliations and high-volume transactions with absolute precision.
Requirements:
Financial Reporting & Analysis
Management Accounts: Prepare comprehensive monthly, periodic, and final management accounts to guide executive decision-making.
Financial Planning: Monitor and analyze the company's financial health, identifying trends and proposing strategic corrective actions.
Asset & Liability Management: Prepare asset, liability, and capital account entries by compiling and analyzing account information.
Operational Accounting & Reconciliations
Product Reconciliation: Conduct specialized reconciliation for the sales and purchase of petroleum products, including AGO, PMS, and DPK.
Logistics & Expenses: Prepare detailed operating expense schedules, covering trailer expenses, loading, clearing, and trip allowances.
Bank & Inter-company: Perform monthly bank reconciliations and inter-company balance settlements; ensure cash book entries align perfectly with bank statements.
Internal Control & Compliance
Financial Security: Maintain strict financial security by adhering to internal controls and auditing all transaction documents.
Policy Adherence: Ensure every financial transaction is processed in full compliance with approved organizational policies and procedures.
Fixed Asset Management: Maintain and update the fixed asset register and depreciation schedules.
Cash & Transaction Management
Liquidity Monitoring: Oversee the daily movement of cash-in-hand and bank balances.
Disbursements: Verify documentation and request disbursements for payments; serve as the custodian for operational cash related to fleet and loading expenses.
Accounts Flow: Proactively identify and follow up on all Receivables and Payables to optimize working capital.
Qualifications and Skills:
Education & Professional Status
Degree: HND or B.Sc. in Accounting or a related discipline.
Professional: Must be a Chartered Accountant (ICAN).
Experience: 12–15 years of relevant accounting experience, with a significant portion in a senior or leadership capacity.
Technical & Sector Expertise
Industry Experience: Prior experience in the Oil & Gas downstream sector is a significant advantage.
Software Proficiency: Expert-level command of Sage, Peachtree (Sage 50), Microsoft Excel (Advanced), Word, and PowerPoint.
