Job Description:
We are seeking an analytically rigorous, technically authoritative, and commercially astute Project Management Advisor to lead the end-to-end delivery of complex Turbo-Machinery and Rotating Equipment upgrade, retrofit, and unit modification projects across Nigeria.
Reporting into the regional Project Management leadership, you will hold absolute Profit & Loss (P&L) accountability for your assigned contract portfolio. You will orchestrate cross-functional engineering, supply chain, and field service teams to guarantee that high-value mechanical and digital interventions are completed safely, on time, within budget, and in strict alignment with client Net Promoter Score (NPS) targets.
Requirements:
1. Financial Governance & Contractual P&L
Financial Stewardship: Take absolute ownership of project financial performance, driving aggressive execution to optimize project revenues, safeguard contribution margins (CM), and accelerate cash collection.
Scope Control & Change Management: Actively manage the project scope of work; identify out-of-scope requests and independently negotiate profitable change orders with clients.
Contract Resolution: Review, clarify, and resolve any technical or commercial ambiguities in contractual wording that arise during execution, protecting the organization from scope creep and liabilities.
2. Project Execution & Asset Upgrades
Lifecycle Management: Oversee the structural execution of rotating machinery unit modifications, retrofits, upgrade/repair services, and component parts delivery from initiation through to commissioning.
Site Supervision: Lead on-site field installation, teardown, and mobilization activities, directly managing technical personnel, heavy field resources, and sub-contractors at onshore energy facilities.
Technical Integration: Partner with clients to plan and execute engineering modifications driven by Technical Information Letters (TILs), evaluating applicability and setting strict execution timeframes on active rotating equipment.
Value Sourcing: Keep customers informed of design changes and the latest technological advancements, identifying and sourcing value-added upgrade opportunities to expand project profitability.
3. Risk Mitigation & Matrix Communication
Risk Engineering: Conduct rigorous, continuous risk assessments throughout the project lifecycle; collaborate across global engineering and manufacturing units to deploy proactive mitigation strategies.
Stakeholder Alignment: Organize and lead formal contract review meetings. Serve as the primary, trusted point of contact for clients while keeping internal project executives systematically aligned.
Operational Reporting: Manage project delivery metrics, utilizing specialized tools to track execution timeliness, report quality, and overall customer satisfaction (NPS). Promptly escalate business-critical risks or bottlenecks.
Qualifications and Skills:
Education & Professional Certifications
Degree: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, or a related quantitative discipline) from an accredited institution.
Core Certifications: Project Management Professional (PMP) or IPMA certification is mandatory.
Preferred Credential: Six Sigma Green Belt certification is highly advantageous.
Experience & Technical Matrix
Industry Track Record: Minimum of 5 years of dedicated project management experience, specifically encompassing rotating machinery equipment upgrades, turbo-machinery retrofits, or control system modifications within the Oil & Gas sector.
Field Competency: Proven, hands-on experience in on-site field supervision, managing industrial tools, engineering resources, and multi-disciplinary teams in high-stakes environments.
Tool Stack Fluency: Highly proficient in standard corporate business suites (MS Office) alongside specialized engineering, test, and design analysis systems (e.g., AutoCAD, ERP, and proprietary project tracking software).
Financial Literacy: Strong technical mastery of project cost control, budget forecasting, and corporate procurement processes.
Soft Skills & Adaptability
Matrix Adaptability: Demonstrated ability to navigate and operate successfully within a highly complex, globally distributed matrix organization.
Client Mastery: Elite communication, technical writing, and negotiation skills, with a track record of building trusted, long-term relationships with senior oil and gas asset owners.
Mobility: Physically capable and willing to operate in challenging onshore facilities and remote customer locations. Ability to travel up to 30% across regional project nodes.
