Job Description:
We are seeking a high-impact Plant HR Manager to serve as the strategic bridge between corporate objectives and site-level operations. In the manufacturing and mining sectors, HR is the backbone of operational uptime. This role is designed for a "Field-Ready Strategist"—someone who can navigate complex industrial relations and labor laws while building a high-performance culture on the factory floor.
Your mission is to lead the entire human capital lifecycle across plant operations. You will be responsible for workforce planning, union management, and ensuring that our health and safety compliance is bulletproof. If you are a CIPM/SHRM certified professional with a "Zero-Conflict" approach to industrial relations and at least 7 years of heavy-industry experience, we want you to lead our people operations.
Requirements:
1. Industrial Relations & Workforce Governance
Labor Diplomacy: Lead and manage industrial relations, serving as the primary liaison for labor unions (where applicable) to ensure a stable, strike-free operational environment.
Workforce Architecture: Oversee strategic recruitment, succession planning, and man-power leveling to ensure the plant is always optimally staffed for production targets.
Performance Culture: Implement and drive performance management systems tailored to an operational workforce, ensuring clear KPIs and accountability at all levels.
2. Compliance & Safety Stewardship
Regulatory Sovereignty: Ensure 100% compliance with Nigerian Labor Laws, industry-specific mining/manufacturing regulations, and corporate policies.
HSE Collaboration: Partner closely with Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) teams to enforce workplace safety standards and manage occupational health risks.
Policy Engineering: Develop and implement site-specific HR policies that drive continuous improvement and operational discipline.
3. Strategic HR Leadership & Analytics
Site-to-Corporate Alignment: Develop HR strategies that align site-level productivity with overall corporate growth objectives.
Operational Reporting: Lead HR data analytics and reporting, providing management with insights into turnover rates, labor costs, and training ROI.
Change Management: Lead organizational development initiatives to foster a culture of safety, efficiency, and professional growth.
Qualifications and Skills:
Professional Profile
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
Certification (MANDATORY): Professional certification from CIPM, SHRM, or HRCI.
Experience: Minimum of 7 years of HR experience, with significant exposure to Manufacturing, Plant, or Mining environments.
Field Mastery: Proven track record in managing large operational workforces and complex industrial relations.
Core Competencies
Negotiation: Expert ability to manage union negotiations and stakeholder interests.
Stakeholder Management: Ability to influence both site-level supervisors and executive leadership.
Strategic Thinking: Capacity to look beyond day-to-day issues to plan for long-term workforce sustainability.
