Job Description:

We are seeking a high-energy, persuasive Graduate Procurement Officer to lead our aluminum scrap sourcing operations in Onitsha. In the fast-moving scrap and recycling industry, procurement is the engine of our business. This role is designed for a professional who can navigate the local market, build high-trust relationships with suppliers, and ensure a steady, cost-efficient flow of materials.

Your mission is to be our "Market Specialist." You will be responsible for mapping out new supplier networks, negotiating the best rates in a volatile market, and ensuring that our operations are never throttled by supply shortages. If you are a well-spoken graduate with a "hunter" mindset and a background in sales or procurement, we want you to own this territory.

Requirements:

1. Strategic Sourcing & Supplier Engineering

• Market Mapping: Proactively identify and onboard new aluminum scrap suppliers within Onitsha and surrounding hubs to diversify our supply base.

• Negotiation Mastery: Lead the negotiation of prices, delivery timelines, and payment terms to maximize cost-efficiency without compromising supply stability.

• Relationship Management: Build and maintain a robust database of reliable suppliers, serving as their primary point of contact and resolving any supply-chain friction.

2. Market Intelligence & Commercial Awareness

• Price Monitoring: Conduct continuous market research to track global and local aluminum price trends, ensuring our procurement strategy remains competitive.

• Sales & Marketing Support: Assist in expanding both supplier and buyer networks, utilizing your market insights to identify high-impact growth opportunities.

• Inventory Synchronization: Coordinate with logistics and operations teams to align procurement volumes with inventory needs and stock management targets.

3. Governance & Reporting

• Ethical Compliance: Ensure all procurement activities adhere to the highest ethical standards and company policies to mitigate fraud and operational risk.

• Data Integrity: Maintain meticulous records of transactions, supplier performance metrics, and procurement reports using MS Office and digital reporting tools.

• Problem Solving: Act as the first responder for supply delays or quality discrepancies, implementing immediate corrective actions.

Qualifications and Skills:

Professional Profile

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Procurement, Sales, Business Administration, or a related discipline.

• Experience: Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in procurement, sales, or marketing (experience in the scrap/recycling industry is highly preferred).

• Local Context: Strong knowledge of the Onitsha business environment and scrap market dynamics is a significant advantage.
