We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Medical Laboratory Scientist to join our diagnostic team in Lagos. In a clinical setting, your work is the bridge between a patient's symptoms and an accurate diagnosis. Your mission is to perform complex biochemical analyses, manage sophisticated laboratory automation, and ensure that every result meets the highest standards of quality and clinical significance.

Requirements:

1. Clinical Analysis & Technical Mastery

• Analyzer Operation: Proficiently operate and troubleshoot a suite of advanced diagnostic tools, including 5-part hematology analyzers, semi-auto chemistry analyzers, FIA immunoassay machines, ISE machines, and ABG analyzers.

• Specialized Testing: Conduct blood matching for transfusions, monitor therapeutic drug levels, and manage lab incubators for Microscopy, Culture, and Sensitivity (MCS).

• Sample Management: Oversee the sterile collection of blood and tissue samples, ensuring meticulous labeling and preparation to eliminate pre-analytical errors.

2. Quality Assurance & Critical Values

• QC Enforcement: Maintain rigorous quality control (QC) protocols for all reagents and equipment, adhering strictly to laboratory and international healthcare standards.

• Critical Value Management: Monitor and record changes in patient results, escalating critical values to physicians or supervisors with the urgency required for patient safety.

• Equipment Stewardship: Perform routine maintenance, calibration, and setup of microscopes, cell counters, and automated systems to ensure peak performance.

3. Data Integrity & Reporting

• Record Governance: Maintain accurate, complete, and confidential healthcare records, ensuring all data is captured within the laboratory information system.

• Collaborative Diagnostics: Discuss complex findings and anomalies with physicians to assist in the development of patient treatment plans.

• Regulatory Compliance: Adhere to all health and safety regulations, ensuring the laboratory remains a sterile and safe environment for staff and patients.

Qualifications and Skills:

Professional Profile

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree (B.Sc. / B.MLS) in Medical Laboratory Science.

• Experience: Minimum of 3 years of active clinical experience in a busy laboratory setting.

• Technical Proficiency: (Mandatory) Proven ability to use:

  • 5-Part Hematology Analyzer

  • Semi-auto Chemistry Analyzer

  • FIA Immunoassay Machine

  • ISE Machine & ABG Analyzer

  • Lab Incubator for MCS
