Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Medical Laboratory Scientist to join our diagnostic team. This role is designed for a professional who is passionate about laboratory medicine and committed to delivering high-accuracy results that inform critical clinical decisions. You will be responsible for conducting a wide range of laboratory investigations across multiple specialties, ensuring that all procedures adhere to stringent quality control standards and regulatory requirements.
The ideal candidate is a licensed professional who has successfully bridged the gap between academic training and clinical practice, demonstrating technical mastery in core laboratory disciplines.
Requirements:
Clinical Investigations & Analysis
Hematology: Perform full blood counts, blood film morphology, and coagulation studies with precision.
Clinical Chemistry: Conduct biochemical analysis of body fluids, ensuring the accuracy of metabolic panels, hormonal assays, and organ function tests.
Microbiology: Execute culture and sensitivity testing, microscopy, and identification of pathogens to guide effective treatment.
Serology & Blood Banking: Manage blood screening for infectious diseases, blood grouping, cross-matching, and the safe storage of blood products.
Quality Assurance & Lab Management
Results Validation: Review and validate test results for clinical accuracy before release to medical practitioners.
Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine calibration and troubleshooting of automated laboratory analyzers and equipment.
Compliance: Maintain meticulous records in accordance with the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN) guidelines and internal SOPs.
Safety: Adhere to strict biohazard safety protocols to maintain a sterile and safe working environment.
Qualifications and Skills:
Education: Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science (B.MLS).
Certification:
Must have completed the mandatory internship program.
Must possess a current, valid practicing license from the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN).
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in manual and automated laboratory techniques across Hematology, Chemistry, Microbiology, and Blood Banking.
Strong understanding of Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).
