Job Description:

  • The Maintenance Officer is responsible for ensuring the optimal performance and reliability of all equipment and machinery within the Plant.
  • The role involves planning and executing preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting mechanical and hydraulic systems, and ensuring strict compliance with operational and safety standards to sustain uninterrupted production.

 

Key Responsibilities
Preventive and Corrective Maintenance:

  • Develop and implement a preventive maintenance program to ensure all equipment and machinery operate at peak efficiency and reliability.
  • Perform troubleshooting, diagnosis, and repairs of mechanical and hydraulic issues on various plant equipment.
  • Identify root causes of equipment failures and implement timely corrective actions to minimize downtime.
  • Conduct regular inspections to verify equipment condition, performance, and compliance with safety and operational standards.

 

Equipment Operations and Monitoring:

  • Ensure proper setup and readiness of equipment for daily plant operations.
  • Monitor and document AGO (diesel) supply to generator service tanks, including daily consumption records.
  • Maintain and update checklists for all operational equipment on a daily basis.
  • Track maintenance job requests, update job completion timelines, and ensure proper documentation of work orders.

 

Record Keeping and Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate maintenance records including work orders, inspection reports, repair logs, and equipment performance history.
  • Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and monthly reports on maintenance activities, equipment status, and performance trends.
  • Manage spare parts inventory, ensuring optimal stock levels and timely procurement of required components.

 

Safety, Compliance, and Policy Adherence:

  • Adhere to all company Health, Safety, Security, and Environment (HSSE) standards while carrying out maintenance activities.
  • Ensure that a Permit to Work (PTW) is raised and approved before commencement of any maintenance or repair task.
  • Issue work permits to contractors and ensure pre-job safety meetings, lockout-tag-out (LOTO), confined space entry, and gas monitoring requirements are followed.
  • Verify that all contractors, vendors, and visitors comply with company and terminal policies, procedures, and safety standards while on site.
  • Promote a strong culture of compliance, safety, and environmental stewardship across maintenance operations.

 

Coordination and Continuous Improvement:

  • Collaborate with plant operators, HSE, and production teams to plan and execute maintenance work with minimal disruption to operations.
  • Train operators and support staff on safe equipment operation and basic maintenance practices.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and recommend modifications to enhance equipment reliability and maintenance efficiency.
  • Maintain proper housekeeping after every maintenance activity and ensure all tools and materials are properly stored.

Requirements:

Technical Competencies.

  • Strong understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
  • Skilled in troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance practices.
  • Proficiency in interpreting technical manuals, drawings, and equipment schematics.
  • Competent in use of maintenance tools, instruments, and basic Microsoft Office applications.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • OND in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years relevant experience in maintenance within a manufacturing or industrial environment, preferably in lubricants or chemical production.
