Job Description:

The Specialist Microbiologist serves as the technical authority on microbial integrity within our production facility. In this role, you will go beyond routine testing to provide specialized analysis that supports production teams, drives problem-solving for contaminants, and leads continuous improvement initiatives. You are responsible for ensuring the purity of our yeast propagation and the safety of our final product. By bridging the gap between the lab and the factory floor, you ensure that high-quality standards (VPO) are not just met, but exceeded through rigorous auditing, expert training, and data-driven insights.

Requirements:

1. Specialized Micro Analysis & Yeast Management

  • Technical Execution: Execute specialized microbiological analysis in accordance with the minimum sampling plan, ensuring 100% traceability of results in LIMS/SAP systems.

  • Yeast Purity: Provide production with high-quality yeast for propagation, ensuring it remains free of contaminants through strict monitoring.

  • Equipment Stewardship: Manage the maintenance and calibration of sensitive laboratory test equipment to ensure data precision.

2. Quality Auditing & Compliance (VPO)

  • System Audits: Conduct scheduled and ad hoc quality audits, identifying gaps in hygiene and process standards.

  • Corrective Action: Initiate and lead corrective actions to close audit gaps, updating quality analysis procedures as industry standards evolve.

  • Lab Governance: Demonstrate and enforce Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and 5S housekeeping standards to ensure a safe and organized work environment.

3. Problem Solving & Continuous Improvement

  • Functional Expertise: Serve as the subject matter expert in problem-solving sessions (RCAs), helping production teams identify the root causes of microbial spikes or quality deviations.

  • Process Optimization: Participate in regional and divisional initiatives to optimize brewing and packaging processes.

  • Training & Coaching: Develop training materials and mentor plant personnel on Good Hygiene Practices (GHP) to build a proactive quality culture.

Qualifications and Skills:

Academic & Technical Foundation

  • Education: Degree or Diploma in Microbiology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, or Food Technology.

  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years in a Food Industry micro-laboratory. Experience in Brewing or Packaging environments is highly preferred.

  • Software: Proficiency in SAP PDM, Microsoft Office, and LIMS (Laboratory Information Management Systems).
