Job Description:
The Key Account Manager (KAM) is the strategic architect of our most valuable client relationships. This is not a standard sales role; it is a high-level partnership position focused on maximizing long-term account value and driving sustainable revenue growth. You will serve as the primary bridge between our organization and its strategic clients, deeply immersing yourself in their business objectives to deliver tailored solutions. Your success will be defined by your ability to secure renewals, drive expansion through upselling/cross-selling, and ensure that our brand remains indispensable to the client’s success.
Requirements:
1. Relationship Architecture & Solution Design
Strategic Partnership: Build and nurture "C-Suite" level relationships with assigned accounts to move from a "vendor" to a "trusted advisor" status.
Consultative Approach: Map client business needs and pain points to our product roadmap to deliver bespoke, high-value solutions.
Primary Liaison: Act as the internal advocate for the client while serving as the authoritative single point of contact for all client matters.
2. Commercial Growth & Portfolio Expansion
Strategic Account Planning: Develop and execute multi-year account plans that align client goals with our revenue and growth targets.
Value Extraction: Aggressively identify and close opportunities for upselling and cross-selling within the existing ecosystem.
Contract Governance: Lead negotiations for contracts, pricing structures, and Service Level Agreements (SLAs) that protect margins while delivering value.
3. Retention & Operational Excellence
Churn Mitigation: Proactively monitor account health and performance metrics to identify and neutralize risks before they impact retention.
Cross-Functional Synergy: Orchestrate internal efforts across Operations, Finance, and Support teams to ensure seamless delivery and client satisfaction.
Data-Driven Insights: Analyze sales trends, account data, and market competitor movements to provide accurate forecasts and strategic recommendations to leadership.
Qualifications and Skills:
Academic & Professional Background
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field (MBA is an advantage).
Experience: 5+ years of proven experience in Account Management or Business Development, specifically handling high-value enterprise accounts.
Track Record: Demonstrated ability to meet or exceed multi-million naira/dollar growth quotas.
Core Competencies
Strategic Thinking: Ability to see the "big picture" and plan 12–24 months ahead for an account.
Negotiation Mastery: High-level commercial acumen with the ability to navigate complex, multi-stakeholder contract negotiations.
Analytical Prowess: Proficiency in CRM software (Salesforce/HubSpot) and data visualization tools to track account performance.
Communication: Exceptional presentation and storytelling skills to convey value propositions to executive stakeholders.
