Job Description:
We are seeking a proactive and service-oriented ICT Support Officer to serve as the primary technical anchor for our staff and students. In this role, you will ensure that our digital infrastructure—from classroom projectors and campus-wide Wi-Fi to high-stakes Learning Management Systems (LMS)—operates without friction. You will provide rapid first-level support, maintain our IT asset ecosystem, and serve as the technical lead during critical academic events like lectures and computer-based examinations. The ideal candidate combines technical troubleshooting mastery with a customer-first approach to user support.
Requirements:
1. End-User Support & Hardware Maintenance
Service Desk Lead: Act as the first point of contact for all hardware and software troubleshooting, resolving issues for desktops, laptops, printers, and peripherals.
System Deployment: Install, configure, and maintain computers and related devices, ensuring all units are running the latest secure operating systems and administrative software.
Classroom & Event Tech: Provide hands-on ICT support during live lectures, virtual meetings, and official events, ensuring audio-visual and connectivity systems are operational.
2. Systems, Network & LMS Administration
Digital Platforms: Support the student and faculty population in the use of Learning Management Systems (LMS), institutional email, and cloud-based office applications.
Network Integrity: Monitor and support basic network operations, ensuring stable internet connectivity across academic and administrative wings.
Exam Coordination: Manage technical requirements for digital examinations, ensuring system stability and zero downtime during high-stakes testing.
3. Asset Management & Cybersecurity
Asset Tracking: Maintain a rigorous digital ledger of all IT assets, software licenses, and hardware lifecycle statuses.
Safety & Compliance: Promote cybersecurity best practices among staff and students, ensuring the safe and responsible use of institutional ICT resources.
Documentation: Keep detailed records of technical issues and resolutions to identify recurring problems and suggest systemic improvements.
Qualifications and Skills:
Education & Experience
Academic Background: Degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical field.
Core Knowledge: Strong foundational knowledge of Windows/macOS/Linux operating systems, basic networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS), and hardware components.
Communication: Exceptional time-management skills and the ability to explain technical solutions to non-technical users.
Desirable (Added Advantage)
Institutional Experience: Prior experience providing IT support within an academic or large institutional environment.
Cybersecurity Awareness: Basic knowledge of cybersecurity practices (e.g., malware prevention, data encryption).
Cloud Tools: Familiarity with Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, or specialized educational digital platforms.
