Job Description:

NUTM is on a mission to build a world-class institution that will redefine higher education in Africa. To achieve this, we need a visionary IT Operations Lead to architect, oversee, and safeguard our digital ecosystem.

This is a high-impact leadership role responsible for the resilience of our hardware, software, and global network infrastructure. You will be the technical anchor ensuring our systems are secure, scalable, and reliable. From developing long-term infrastructure roadmaps to managing complex vendor ecosystems and ensuring data privacy (GDPR/NDPR), you will play a pivotal role in creating a vibrant, innovative learning environment for Africa’s most brilliant minds.

Requirements:

1. Infrastructure Architecture & Network Resilience

• Network Stewardship: Maintain and optimize local networks and servers to ensure 99.9% uptime for students, faculty, and staff.

• Strategic Roadmap: Partner with management to develop an IT infrastructure roadmap that supports the university’s growth and technological evolution.

• Cloud & Systems: Manage installations, upgrades, and configurations of hardware and software, leveraging cloud computing to enhance scalability.

2. Cyber Security & Data Governance

• Security Operations: Oversee robust security protocols, including firewalls, user authorization, and advanced password management systems.

• Data Integrity: Manage data backup and recovery operations to ensure business continuity and zero data loss.

• Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all data handling, transfers, and processing align with global and local legislation (e.g., GDPR, NDPR) and internal policies.

3. Operational Leadership & Vendor Management

• Vendor Ecosystem: Manage contracts and service levels with telecommunications companies, ISPs, and software development platforms.

• Fiscal Responsibility: Control IT budgets and costs, ensuring maximum ROI on technology investments and software licenses.

• Technical Mentorship: Resolve complex issues escalated by technicians and provide strategic guidance to stakeholders via the help desk.

Qualifications and Skills:

Academic & Technical Excellence

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

• Experience: Proven track record as an IT Operations Lead or in a senior systems administration role.

• Technical Mastery: Thorough knowledge of network administration, system configuration, and cloud computing architectures.

Leadership & Strategic Skills

• Project Governance: Demonstrated ability to juggle multiple high-stakes projects simultaneously.

• Compliance Savvy: Practical knowledge of data protection operations and international privacy legislation.

• Communication: Outstanding ability to translate complex technical issues into actionable insights for non-technical stakeholders.
