Job Description:

  • Responsible for leading the Bank's risk management efforts, overseeing all aspects of Financial, Operational, IT (cyber), and Regulatory risks.
  • The role involves developing and implementing a comprehensive risk management framework, ensuring regulatory compliance, managing the risk appetite, and safeguarding the bank’s assets and customer data.
  • The role provides strategic risk oversight, supports informed decision-making, and ensures alignment with the Bank’s regulatory requirements and long-term business objectives.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive risk management strategy in line with the objectives of Hope Payments Service Bank and CBN guidelines.
  • Collaborate with IT and cybersecurity teams to develop policies and frameworks to mitigate technology-related risks, including data breaches, cyberattacks, and fraud.
  • Establish frameworks, policies, and procedures to manage risks across all areas of the Bank’s operations.
  • Advise senior management and the board on the bank's risk appetite and ensure all business activities operate within acceptable limits.
  • Implement business continuity and disaster recovery plans to minimize the impact of unforeseen events.
  • Develop and maintain an effective fraud, financial, operational, market, sustainability, liquidity and technology risks management frameworks, ensuring early identification and resolution of risks events. 
  • Ensure compliance with all CBN regulations, guidelines, and directives applicable to payments Service banks.
  • Manage market and liquidity risks to ensure financial stability and sustainable growth.
  • Prepare and present risk management reports to the Board of Directors, senior management, and regulators. 
  • Utilize data analytics to assess and model potential risks, and design proactive risk mitigation strategies.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate operational risks, ensuring that processes and controls are robust across all business units.
  • Maintain up-to-date risk register of the Bank
  • Foster a risk-aware culture across the bank through training, communication, and awareness initiatives.
  • Collaborate with the board of directors, executive leadership, and external stakeholders to communicate risk management strategies and outcomes.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Risk Management, Accounting, Finance, or related field. 
  • Professional certifications such as FRM (Financial Risk Manager), PRM (Professional Risk Manager), CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst), ACA, or ACCA will be an added advantage.
  • An MBA or master’s degree in any business-related discipline is required.
  • Certification in risk management frameworks such as ISO 31000, COSO ERM Framework will be an added advantage.
  • Experience with BASEL II and III implementation is essential.

 

Experience:

  • 10-12 years’ experience in a Risk Management environment (operational, market, liquidity) within the Banking and Financial Services sector.
