We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Description:

  • We are looking for an intelligent, diligent, detail and result-oriented Finance Officer who has proven experience in a finance or accounting role, preferably within the fintech or financial services industry, with a strong understanding of financial regulations, accounting principles, and financial management practices to join our dynamic team.
  • The Finance Officer will play a key role in managing our financial operations, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, and providing critical financial insights to support our growth and innovation in the fintech industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain accurate financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
  • Conduct regular financial analysis to identify trends, discrepancies/variances, and opportunities for improvement in the fintech sector.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with department heads to develop and monitor budgets.
  • Prepare financial forecasts and provide variance analysis against budgets.
  • Assist in long-term financial planning and strategy development.
  • Oversee accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring timely payments and collections.
  • Reconcile bank statements and ensure all financial records are accurate and up-to-date.
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards, including GAAP and IFRS.
  • Assist with internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations.
  • Implement and monitor internal controls to safeguard company assets.
  • Maintain and enhance the company’s financial systems and tools to improve efficiency and accuracy.
  • Collaborate with IT and other departments to integrate financial systems with operational systems.
  • Provide financial insights and recommendations to support business decisions and strategic planning.
  • Monitor market trends and regulatory changes that could impact the company’s financial performance.
  • Perform periodic financial analysis to detect and resolve problems.
  • Review and implement financial policies
  • Prepare balance sheets and invoices.
  • Conduct a daily review of the General Ledgers
  • Preparation of Monthly CBN Returns
  • Assist in the Preparation of Management Accounts
  • Preparation of the Weekly Performance Report
  • Assist in the Preparation of Asset and Liability Report
  • Calculation of the Effective Interest rate on Investment securities

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field. A Master’s degree or professional certification (e.g., ICAN, ACCA, CIBN) is a plus.
  • Minimum of five years cognate experience
  • Proven experience in a finance or accounting role, preferably within the fintech or financial services industry.
  • Strong understanding of financial regulations, accounting principles, and financial management practices.
  • Proficiency in financial software and tools (e.g., QuickBooks, Excel, financial modeling software).
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present complex financial information clearly.
  • High attention to detail and organizational skills.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with fintech-specific financial practices and regulations.
  • Familiarity with emerging financial technologies.
  • Self-Starter with the ability to work independently
  • Ability to work under pressure, in a fast-paced, innovative environment while remaining flexible, proactive, and efficient.
