Job Description:
The Nigeria Tobacco Control Alliance (NTCA) is seeking a creative and strategic Communications Officer to serve as the primary architect of our public voice. In the high-stakes arena of public health advocacy, information is the most powerful tool for policy change. This role is designed for a "Digital Catalyst", a professional who can blend institutional sobriety with cutting-edge digital strategy to position NTCA as the leading authority on tobacco control in Nigeria.
Your mission is to ensure "Narrative Dominance and Advocacy Reach." You will be responsible for the entire communication lifecycle: from developing cross-platform digital strategies and managing high-stakes social media campaigns to producing professional print reports and coordinating press engagements. If you possess the "Storytelling Grit" to turn complex policy data into compelling human-interest content, we want you to drive our influence.
Requirements:
1. Digital Ecosystem & Social Governance
Strategy Architecture: Develop and implement an integrated communication strategy that aligns NTCA’s online and offline presence with its core advocacy goals.
Platform Growth: Take full ownership of social media management—from planning and content approval to real-time publishing and performance analytics.
Web Stewardship: Manage and curate high-quality website content, ensuring the NTCA digital hub remains a credible, up-to-date resource for stakeholders.
2. Multimedia Content & Storytelling
High-Impact Production: Oversee the creation of diverse communication assets, including professional graphics, short-form videos, newsletters, and advocacy reports for both digital and print distribution.
Narrative Crafting: Produce compelling impact stories that humanize NTCA’s activities and demonstrate the real-world value of tobacco control initiatives.
Asset Governance: Maintain a structured, searchable archive of the Alliance’s photography, videography, and publication history to ensure brand consistency.
3. Media Engagement & Tactical Advocacy
Press Coordination: Support high-level media engagement by drafting press releases, placing articles in key publications, and coordinating press conferences and advocacy events.
Innovative Deployment: Identify and deploy emerging communication tools and platforms to strengthen NTCA’s reach among younger demographics and policy influencers.
Campaign Synergy: Work closely with the program and leadership teams to provide tactical communication support for national campaigns and legislative advocacy.
Qualifications and Skills:
Professional Background
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Media Studies, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field.
Experience: Proven track record in Digital Media or Content Strategy. Experience in the non-profit or public health sector is a significant advantage.
Technical Savvy: Proficiency in Content Management Systems (CMS), social media analytics, and basic design/video editing tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Suite, CapCut).
Core Competencies
Writing Mastery: Exceptional editing and storytelling skills with the ability to simplify technical jargon for public consumption.
Strategic Agility: Ability to manage multiple high-pressure deadlines while delivering polished, high-quality outputs.
Digital Literacy: Strong competence in navigating the nuances of different social platforms to maximize engagement and influence.
