Job Description:
Moniepoint is seeking a highly analytical Risk Management Analyst to oversee credit and portfolio data across our ecosystem. In this role, you will be the engine behind our data-driven lending decisions, combining credit risk expertise with advanced analytics to ensure portfolio quality and sustainable growth. You will bridge the gap between complex datasets and strategic risk mitigation, ensuring our lending practices remain resilient, compliant, and optimized for a fast-scaling fintech environment.
The ideal candidate is a technical powerhouse proficient in SQL and Python, with a deep understanding of credit lifecycles and the ability to tell compelling stories through data.
Requirements:
Portfolio Risk Monitoring & Analysis
Performance Tracking: Monitor key metrics including PAR (Portfolio at Risk), NPL (Non-Performing Loans), roll rates, and recoveries.
Trend Identification: Analyze delinquency patterns across various buckets (PAR 0–360) and identify Early Warning Signals (EWS) to preempt emerging risk patterns.
Strategic Modeling: Create and maintain advanced monitoring models, including Vintage Analysis, Credit Risk Appetite, and Transaction Matrices.
Data Analytics & Risk Modeling
Data Engineering: Extract and clean large datasets from MySQL/PostgreSQL environments to build automated risk dashboards in Power BI or Tableau.
Model Support: Assist in developing and refining credit scoring models, including PD (Probability of Default), LGD (Loss Given Default), and EAD (Exposure at Default).
Stress Testing: Conduct rigorous scenario analysis and stress testing to evaluate portfolio resilience under diverse economic conditions.
Credit Decision Support & Strategy
Underwriting Assistance: Provide data-backed recommendations on loan approvals, pricing, and limits based on behavioral and cash-flow profiling.
Optimization: Segment the portfolio by geography, industry, and customer type to recommend risk-based strategies that minimize losses while fueling growth.
Collections Support: Utilize data insights to refine and improve collection and recovery strategies.
Regulatory Compliance & Process Improvement
Regulatory Reporting: Support reporting requirements for the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and credit bureaus.
Accounting Standards: Assist with IFRS 9 Expected Credit Loss (ECL) calculations and ensure alignment with internal risk frameworks.
Automation: Collaborate with Engineering and Product teams to improve data pipelines and automate manual risk processes.
Qualifications and Skills:
Education & Experience
Degree: Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field.
Experience: 4–5+ years of cognate experience in credit risk, data analytics, or fintech risk management.
Technical Toolkit
Data & Programming: Advanced Microsoft Excel, SQL (PostgreSQL/MySQL), and Python (Pandas, NumPy).
Visualization: High proficiency in Power BI or Tableau.
Systems: Familiarity with core banking/loan systems (e.g., Temenos, Finacle).
Advantageous: Experience with SAS or R is a plus.
