Job Description:

  • The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) provides strategic and operational leadership for the organisation’s financial functions.
  • This role goes beyond keeping the books balanced; it stewards financial integrity, enables growth, manages risk, and ensures that every naira works with intention.
  • The CFO is a key member of the executive leadership team, shaping long-term strategy while maintaining disciplined financial governance.

Key Responsibilities
Strategic Financial Leadership:

  • Partner with the CEO and executive team to develop and execute the organisation’s financial strategy.
  • Provide forward-looking financial insights to support business growth, expansion, and sustainability.
  • Translate organisational goals into sound financial plans, forecasts, and investment decisions.

Financial Management & Reporting:

  • Oversee budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial modelling.
  • Ensure accurate, timely, and compliant financial reporting in line with statutory and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare and present financial reports, dashboards, and insights to leadership and the Board.

Risk Management & Compliance:

  • Establish and maintain robust internal controls and financial policies.
  • Ensure compliance with tax laws, regulatory requirements, and financial reporting standards.
  • Identify financial risks and implement mitigation strategies.

Treasury & Cash Flow Oversight:

  • Manage liquidity, working capital, and funding strategies.
  • Oversee banking relationships, loans, investments, and capital structure.
  • Ensure the organisation maintains financial stability and resilience.

Operational & Cost Control:

  • Drive cost optimisation without compromising operational effectiveness.
  • Monitor expenditure and enforce financial discipline across departments.
  • Support procurement, contract reviews, and vendor negotiations from a financial standpoint.

Leadership & Stakeholder Management:

  • Lead and develop the finance team, building capacity and accountability.
  • Act as a trusted financial advisor to senior leadership.
  • Engage auditors, regulators, financial institutions, and external advisors as required.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
  • Professional qualification such as ACA, ACCA, CPA, or equivalent (mandatory).
  • 8–12 years progressive experience in finance, with at least 3–5 years at a senior leadership level.
  • Strong understanding of financial regulations, tax, and corporate governance (Nigeria-focused experience preferred).
  • Proven experience in strategic financial planning and organisational growth.
