Job Description:
We are seeking a proactive and results-driven Business Development Manager (BDM) to spearhead the acquisition of high-value B2B clients within the Nigerian import/export sector. This is a strategic role focused on identifying corporate entities with significant cross-border payment and foreign exchange needs. This is not a retail or door-to-door sales position; it requires a sophisticated approach to B2B relationship management and a deep understanding of international trade cycles.
The ideal candidate is a well-networked professional with the ability to navigate complex trade environments and deliver tailored financial solutions to large-scale importers and exporters.
Requirements:
Corporate Client Acquisition
Strategic Onboarding: Identify and onboard high-volume importers and exporters, promoting the company’s specialized local payment and foreign exchange solutions.
Pipeline Development: Build and manage a robust pipeline of businesses across key sectors, including FMCG, Electronics, Auto Parts, Building Materials, Textiles, and Machinery.
Sector Engagement: Conduct regular market visits and attend business association meetings to maintain a high-profile presence in key trade hubs.
Partnership & Ecosystem Management
Strategic Alliances: Build and nurture partnerships with critical trade facilitators, including freight forwarders, logistics companies, and customs agents.
Stakeholder Liaison: Act as a key link between industry associations and the company to drive institutional growth.
Client Support: Provide end-to-end support for corporate clients during the onboarding process and ongoing usage of our payment platforms.
Market Intelligence & Growth
Retention Strategy: Develop long-term relationships with acquired clients to ensure consistent transaction volume and business continuity.
Feedback Loop: Gather and report market intelligence, providing management with actionable insights on client needs and emerging market trends.
Qualifications and Skills:
Education & Experience
Degree: OND, HND, or Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Finance, or a related field.
Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in B2B Sales or Business Development.
Sector Expertise: Prior experience in Banking, Fintech, Cross-Border Services, or Logistics is highly preferred.
Core Competencies & Skills
Network: An existing network within the Nigerian importer/exporter community is a significant advantage.
Sales Prowess: Exceptional negotiation, presentation, and relationship management skills.
Drive: Highly motivated and target-driven, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced financial services environment.
Mobility: Candidates with personal transportation are strongly preferred to facilitate frequent client visits.
Location Preference
Proximity to Berger Auto Market or Mile 12 is highly desirable.
