Job Description:

  • Are you ready to take full strategic ownership of the engineering domain within a high-performing brewery?
  • We are looking for a seasoned engineering leader to set the direction, elevate asset care standards, and drive operational excellence across Brewing, Packaging and Utilities. This is a critical leadership role responsible for engineering governance, plant reliability, maintenance strategy and long-term capability building.
  • This role requires a technically strong, commercially astute leader who thrives in complexity and knows how to translate strategy into disciplined execution.

 

Key Responsibilities
Strategic Engineering Leadership:

  • Own and lead the Engineering Domain strategy for the Brewery
  • Drive equipment and system integrity through adherence to corporate standards and legislation
  • Lead strategic initiatives and capital projects to improve reliability and efficiency
  • Establish and build a high-performing engineering capability.

 

Asset Care & Maintenance Excellence (VPO-Aligned):

  • Lead maintenance strategy in line with VPO principles
  • Optimize planned maintenance systems and failure analysis processes
  • Implement spares optimization strategies
  • Drive plant reliability across Brewing, Utilities and Packaging
  • Deliver maintenance cost per HL in line with benchmarks.

 

Governance, Risk & Compliance:

  • Lead risk management programs including OHS and environmental compliance
  • Ensure full compliance with legal and engineering standards
  • Maintain system integrity, instrumentation calibration and change control
  • Drive GMP / 5S and audit excellence.

 

Financial & Project Management:

  • Own ZBB Maintenance and CAPEX budgeting processes
  • Manage plant asset care budgets and departmental cost control
  • Deliver site projects on time and within budget
  • Review and drive financial performance.

 

People & Capability Leadership:

  • Build, develop and cross-skill a high-performing engineering team
  • Lead structured goal setting and review processes
  • Conduct training needs analyses and drive SCAP progress
  • Foster a culture of ownership, empowerment and accountability
  • Maintain a healthy industrial relations climate.

  • Efficient spares stockholding
  • Strong PLC, software and instrumentation capability onsite

Requirements:

  • Resilient and comfortable operating in high-pressure environments
  • Detail-oriented with uncompromising quality standards
  • A persuasive, assertive and innovative thinker
  • A strategic planner with strong organisational skills
  • Able to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Minimum of a BSc / HND in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (MSc advantageous)
  • 5 –10 Years experience as a Packaging or Brewing & Utilities Engineer manufacturing environment)
  • COREN membership will be advantageous.

 

Experience & Skills:

  • Strong commercial and financial acumen
  • Deep technical knowledge of manufacturing systems and instrumentation
  • Proven leadership capability in engineering environments
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability
  • Experience managing maintenance systems (e.g. Coswin)
  • Solid PLC and software skills
  • Experience implementing HR processes to lead and develop teams.
