About Company:

Fiphs Infrastructure Limited is an Engineering, Procurement and Construction Company with extensive local knowledge, engineering and construction expertise. We deliver innovative and creative solutions that provide our stakeholders with the highest possible level of expertise, exceeding their expectation using cutting edge technology to provide services covering planning, design, engineering, construction, operation and maintenance.

Job Description:

We are seeking a technically sound and commercially astute Technical Engineer (Quantity Surveyor) to lead the financial and contractual health of our construction projects. This role is a strategic blend of engineering insight and fiscal management; you will be responsible for ensuring that complex projects are delivered within budget without compromising on technical integrity.

With at least 5 years of post-NYSC experience, you will act as the commercial backbone of our projects—managing everything from the initial Bill of Quantities (BOQs) and tender documentation to final account settlements. If you have a proven track record in cost control, contract administration, and value engineering within the infrastructure or power sectors, we invite you to join our team.

Requirements:

1. Commercial Administration & Cost Engineering

  • Estimation & Tendering: Prepare high-precision cost estimates, BOQs, and comprehensive tender documentation.

  • Valuation & Certification: Perform on-site measurements to value and certify work executed, ensuring that interim valuations and variation claims are technically and financially accurate.

  • Value Engineering: Conduct risk management and value engineering exercises to optimize project costs while maintaining structural and functional requirements.

2. Budgetary Control & Resource Management

  • Financial Oversight: Monitor project budgets, cash flows, and site resource usage, providing real-time forecasting to prevent cost overruns.

  • Risk Identification: Identify potential cost risks and commercial opportunities, offering data-driven advice to management to protect project margins.

  • Procurement Support: Assist in subcontractor evaluations and comparative cost analyses to ensure the best value for procurement activities.

3. Technical Coordination & Contract Management

  • Drawing Interpretation: Review engineering drawings, technical specifications, and schedules to determine immediate cost and technical implications.

  • Contractual Compliance: Administer contracts to ensure all parties adhere to terms and conditions, maintaining meticulous records for commercial and technical activities.

  • Cross-Functional Liaison: Serve as the vital link between site engineers, project managers, and external consultants to ensure a seamless flow of information.

Qualifications and Skills:

Professional Profile

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.

  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of post-NYSC experience specifically in construction project cost management.

  • Sector IQ: Experience in Infrastructure or Power projects is a significant advantage.

Technical Competencies

  • Software Mastery: Proficiency in MS Office (Advanced Excel) and industry-relevant QS software (e.g., CostX, WinQS).

  • Analytical Thinking: Strong ability to interpret complex engineering drawings and specifications.

  • Professionalism: High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and a commitment to continuous professional development.
