Job Description:

We are seeking a technically proficient and highly ethical Tax Officer to lead our tax management function. In a complex and evolving regulatory landscape, this role is the shield of the organization—ensuring 100% compliance while strategically optimizing tax efficiency across our various business units.

Your mission is to own the tax lifecycle end-to-end. You will be responsible for the accuracy of all statutory filings (CIT, VAT, WHT, PAYE), lead the defense during tax audits, and provide proactive advisory to senior management. If you have 5+ years of experience, a "Big 4" background, and the integrity to navigate intricate tax frameworks, we invite you to anchor our fiscal governance.

Requirements:

1. Statutory Compliance & Filings

• Tax Architecture: Oversee the end-to-end computation, filing, and remittance of all statutory taxes, including Company Income Tax (CIT), Value Added Tax (VAT), Withholding Tax (WHT), and Payroll Tax (PAYE).

• Documentation Stewardship: Maintain surgical accuracy in tax records and documentation, ensuring the organization is "audit-ready" at all times.

• Regulatory Monitoring: Stay at the forefront of the Finance Act and other legislative changes, assessing their impact on the group’s operations and recommending rapid adjustments.

2. Tax Advisory & Strategic Planning

• Fiscal Efficiency: Support tax planning initiatives to legally optimize the group’s tax position while maintaining a zero-tolerance approach to non-compliance.

• Internal Advisory: Provide high-impact tax advisory support to diverse business units, acting as a consultant on the tax implications of new contracts, projects, and investments.

• Reporting & Insights: Translate complex tax data into clear, actionable reports for senior management to support high-level decision-making.

3. Audit Defense & External Relations

• Authority Liaison: Act as the primary point of contact for the FIRS and State Internal Revenue Services, managing all correspondence with diplomacy and professionalism.

• Audit Leadership: Lead the management of tax audits and assessments, preparing comprehensive schedules and defending the organization’s tax positions with technical rigor.

• Risk Mitigation: Proactively identify potential tax exposures and implement corrective actions to minimize the risk of penalties or interest.

Qualifications and Skills:

Professional Profile

• Education: B.Sc / HND in Accounting, Economics, or a related field.

• Experience: Minimum 5 years in a specialized tax role. Experience in a Big 4 accounting firm is a strong advantage.

• Certification: Professional certifications such as CITN, ICAN, or ACCA are highly desirable.

• Knowledge: Deep mastery of Nigerian tax laws and the regulatory frameworks governing large group structures.
