Job Description:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Tax Officer to join our finance team in Lagos. This role is pivotal in managing our group’s tax processes, ensuring full compliance with Nigerian tax laws, and optimizing fiscal health by preventing tax leakages. You will serve as a key point of contact for internal departments and external tax authorities, ensuring accurate reporting, reconciliation, and statutory filing.

Requirements:

  • Compliance & Reporting: Assist the Tax Manager and Assistant Tax Manager in the timely preparation and filing of tax returns.

  • Data Analysis: Analyze financial information and prepare necessary tax schedules to support organizational compliance.

  • Statutory Deductions: Manage the accurate preparation of statutory deductions and ensure remittances are processed within regulatory deadlines.

  • Reconciliation: Conduct periodic reconciliations of tax accruals against actuals to maintain financial accuracy.

  • Documentation: Maintain meticulous records of statutory correspondence and tax-related documentation to ensure legal and mathematical integrity.

  • Stakeholder Liaison: Build and maintain proactive working relationships with external stakeholders, including tax authorities.

  • Operational Support: Support broader tax functions and complete related tasks as directed by the Tax Manager to streamline group financial processes.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Experience: Minimum of 4 years of cumulative experience in tax practice within a reputable organization.

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree or HND in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in MS Office Suite (specifically Excel for data analysis, PowerPoint, and Word) and strong fundamental accounting skills.

  • Communication: Excellent oral and written communication skills to facilitate professional interactions with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Soft Skills: A process-oriented team player with a creative approach to problem-solving, a commitment to quality, and high attention to detail.
