Job Description:

IPT PowerTech Group is seeking a high-caliber Structural Engineer to join our Lagos operations. As a market leader in telecom infrastructure across Africa and the Middle East, our engineering team ensures the stability and longevity of critical communication networks. This role is designed for a "Structural Specialist", someone who can calculate wind loads on 100-meter towers, design foundations for heavy hybrid power systems, and oversee the structural health of diverse site builds.

Your mission is to provide the technical blueprint for safety and stability. You will be responsible for the entire structural lifecycle: from initial site surveys and CAD modeling to stress analysis and final certification of telecom masts and renewable energy frames. Requirements:

1. Structural Analysis & Design Synthesis

• Tower Load Mapping: Conduct rigorous analysis of telecom structures (monopoles, lattice towers, and rooftop mounts), calculating wind loads, antenna surface areas, and ice loading where applicable.

• Foundation Engineering: Design and verify reinforced concrete foundations for towers and heavy industrial equipment, ensuring stability in diverse Nigerian soil conditions.

• Renewable Infrastructure: Engineer specialized mounting structures for solar PV arrays and hybrid energy enclosures, optimizing for durability and cost-efficiency.

2. Technical Oversight & Compliance

• CAD & FEA Mastery: Utilize AutoCAD and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software to simulate structural behavior under extreme environmental stress.

• Code Stewardship: Ensure all designs comply with local Nigerian building codes and international telecom standards (e.g., TIA/EIA-222).

• Retrofitting Strategies: Develop reinforcement and retrofitting plans for existing towers to accommodate additional equipment or technology upgrades (e.g., 5G rollout).

3. Site Governance & Quality Assurance

• Fabrication Supervision: Review and approve technical shop drawings, ensuring that steel fabrication matches engineering specifications for grade and coating.

• Site Inspections: Conduct structural audits and "as-built" verifications at telecom sites, identifying any deviations from approved designs.

• Vendor Coordination: Liaise with contractors and fabrication partners to resolve structural challenges during the construction and installation phases.

Qualifications and Skills:

Professional Profile

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree (B.Eng/B.Sc) in Civil or Structural Engineering.

• Experience: Proven experience as a Structural Engineer, specifically within Telecommunications, Power, or Heavy Industrial sectors.

• Licensure: Registration with COREN (Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria) is highly preferred.

• Software Savvy: High proficiency in AutoCAD, STAAD.Pro, SAP2000, or similar structural analysis software.
