Job Description:

Cowrywise is seeking a talented and proactive Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to help build, maintain, and scale the infrastructure that powers our financial services. Working closely with our engineering team, you will be responsible for enhancing system reliability, security, and deployment processes. We are looking for an expert who can specifically raise the bar on observability, helping us detect production issues early and resolve them with confidence. If you are passionate about automation, operational excellence, and high-availability systems, we want you on our infrastructure team.

Requirements:

• Infrastructure Design: Design, maintain, and optimize cloud infrastructure (primarily AWS/GCP) and internal platforms to ensure high scalability and performance.

• Observability & Monitoring: Implement and refine monitoring, logging, and alerting systems. Create meaningful metrics, dashboards, and SLOs (Service Level Objectives) that proactively surface issues.

• Deployment & CI/CD: Build and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines and streamlined deployment workflows to ensure fast, safe releases.

• Incident Response: Lead incident response efforts, troubleshoot complex production issues, and conduct thorough root cause analysis (RCA) to improve future stability.

• Automation: Automate operational tasks and infrastructure provisioning using Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, Pulumi, or CloudFormation).

• System Security & Reliability: Maintain high availability, disaster recovery, and backup strategies. Enhance the overall security posture through IAM hardening and access control best practices.

• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with engineering teams to improve service architecture, operational readiness, and clean code standards.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Experience: 4+ years in an SRE, DevOps, or Platform Engineering role managing production environments.

• Cloud Proficiency: Strong hands-on experience with AWS (compute, networking, IAM, storage).

• Observability Expertise: Deep experience with tools like New Relic, Grafana, and Prometheus. Proven ability to reduce Mean Time to Detect (MTTD) and Mean Time to Resolve (MTTR).

• Technical Stack: Proficiency in Docker/containerized workflows, solid scripting skills (Python, Bash, or Go), and experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform).

• Foundations: Strong knowledge of Linux fundamentals, networking, and CI/CD pipeline management.

• Problem Solving: A track record of leading incident responses and writing clear, actionable post-mortems.
