Job Description:

We are seeking a seasoned Senior Finance Officer to support our financial management activities. This role is specifically designed for a high-performing finance professional with deep technical competence in project-based accounting within Engineering, Procurement, Installation, and Commissioning (EPIC) environments. You will be instrumental in ensuring the integrity of our financial records, monitoring project profitability, and providing the data-driven insights necessary for strategic decision-making.

The ideal candidate is a professionally certified accountant with a rigorous approach to statutory compliance and a proven track record of managing complex project finances in Nigeria.

Requirements:

Project Finance & Cost Monitoring

• Budget Tracking: Track project expenditures against approved budgets, investigating and reporting any variances immediately.

• Profitability Analysis: Prepare detailed project cost reports and profitability analyses to ensure project health.

• Revenue Recognition: Monitor and record revenue in strict alignment with contractual milestones and IFRS standards.

• Managerial Support: Act as a financial partner to Project Managers, providing cost controls and financial insights.

Financial Reporting & Ledger Management

• Management Accounts: Prepare comprehensive monthly management accounts and all supporting schedules.

• Data Integrity: Maintain accurate, real-time accounting records and process all journal entries and general ledger adjustments.

• Reconciliations: Perform rigorous bank, vendor, and balance sheet reconciliations to ensure zero discrepancies.

• Audit Support: Lead the preparation for year-end closing and provide primary support during external audits.

Treasury, Tax & Compliance

• Cash Management: Prepare weekly cash flow reports and forecasts; monitor liquidity requirements and liaise with banks.

• Statutory Remittances: Ensure 100% timely processing and filing of PAYE, VAT, WHT, Pension, NHF, and NSITF.

• Regulatory Liaison: Manage relationships with relevant tax and regulatory authorities.

• Accounts Flow: Oversee the full cycle of Accounts Payable and Receivable, ensuring timely vendor payments and proactive collection of overdue receivables.

Internal Control & Strategy

• Budgeting: Assist in the development of annual budgets and rolling forecasts.

• Control Environment: Identify gaps in internal controls and recommend robust improvements to safeguard company assets.

Qualifications and Skills:

Education & Professional Certification

• Degree: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.

• Certification: ACA, ACCA, or an equivalent professional accounting certification is required.

Experience Requirements

• Duration: 4–6 years of relevant finance and accounting experience.

• Industry Context: Experience in engineering, construction, oil and gas, or procurement (project-based industries) is strongly preferred.

• Local Expertise: Proven experience in project accounting and statutory compliance within the Nigerian regulatory framework.
