Job Description:
We are seeking a high-caliber and technically rigorous Risk and Loss Prevention Engineer / Specialist II to anchor our technical governance in Akwa Ibom. In large-scale industrial and energy projects, success is defined by "Operational Resilience", the ability to identify, model, and neutralize catastrophic risks before they manifest. This role is designed for a "Safety Architect" with 10–15 years of experience who can blend "Advanced Consequence Modeling" with the "Engineering Oversight" required to manage complex contractor and subcontractor workflows.
Your mission is to ensure "Absolute Project Compliance and Zero-Harm Asset Protection." You will be the primary steward of the project’s safety DNA: responsible for facilitating risk studies, validating discipline engineering designs against global standards, and formalizing company safety codes. If you possess "Exceptional Facilitation Skills," a mastery of Toxic Gas Dispersion Modeling, and the "Technical Grit" to maintain standards under tight deadlines, we want you to drive our operational sovereignty.
Requirements:
1. Engineering Oversight & Design Governance
Technical Validation: Evaluate and comment on internal and contractor discipline engineering to ensure 100% alignment with project specifications, company standards, and regulatory mandates.
Routine Facilitation: Drive the execution of discipline engineering and design routines, ensuring they remain harmonized with the project’s overarching goals and safety objectives.
Functional Synergy: Act as the primary communication bridge between the Project Team and other company functions, ensuring progress and technical issues are reported with high fidelity.
2. Advanced Risk Architecture & Analysis
Consequence Modeling: Lead and participate in sophisticated risk studies, including Toxic Gas Dispersion Modeling and thermal radiation analysis, to predict and mitigate potential impact zones.
Hazard Identification: Facilitate formal risk assessments (HAZOP, LOPA, QRA) to identify systemic vulnerabilities in the design and operational phases.
Data-Driven Mitigation: Use technical insights from risk studies to influence engineering decisions and enhance physical loss prevention measures.
3. Standards Engineering & Documentation
Code Development: Develop, update, and formalize safety standards and instructions, translating complex regulatory requirements into documented company practices.
Quality Assurance: Assure that all loss prevention criteria are integrated into the design lifecycle, from initial FEED to final commissioning.
Regulatory Diplomacy: Ensure that all engineering work meets or exceeds national and international safety codes, maintaining the project’s "License to Operate."
Qualifications and Skills:
Professional Profile
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, or Safety preferred) or equivalent professional experience.
Experience: 10–15 years of robust experience in Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) and Loss Prevention.
Standard Mastery: Broad and extensive knowledge of discipline design standards, safety criteria, and international codes (API, NFPA, ASME).
Core Competencies
Analytical Grit: Ability to conduct complex risk studies and adapt to frequent changes in priority without compromising technical quality.
Communication Prowess: Fluent in technical and business English, with the ability to facilitate high-stakes meetings and technical reviews.
Software Proficiency: Advanced command of the Microsoft Office suite and familiarity with specialized risk modeling software.
