Job Description:

First Ally Asset Management is seeking a rigorous and intellectually curious Research Associate to serve as the analytical engine of our investment team. In this role, you will be responsible for decoding the complexities of global and domestic markets to provide the "intelligence edge" required for superior asset allocation. You will move beyond simple data collection, utilizing advanced financial modeling and macroeconomic forecasting to influence multi-billion naira investment decisions across equities and fixed-income portfolios. If you are a critical thinker who can synthesize complex global trends into actionable local insights, we want you to shape our investment outlook.

Requirements:

1. Macroeconomic Intelligence & Forecasting

  • Global & Domestic Synthesis: Produce authoritative monthly and quarterly reports that analyze the interplay between global economic shifts and Nigerian domestic realities.

  • Economic Modeling: Develop data-driven outlooks and projections on inflation, interest rates, and GDP growth to guide fund management strategies.

  • Trend Identification: Provide qualitative deep-dives into emerging market dynamics, identifying risks and opportunities before they become consensus.

2. Equity & Fixed-Income Strategy

  • Fundamental Analysis: Conduct bottom-up research on Nigerian Exchange (NGX) listed companies, utilizing DCF and relative valuation techniques to issue Buy/Hold/Sell recommendations.

  • Fixed-Income Optimization: Analyze yield curves, monetary policy shifts, and sovereign risk to optimize returns within our fixed-income portfolio.

  • ASI Monitoring: Track the NGX All Share Index (ASI) and broader sector dynamics to identify technical and fundamental inflection points.

3. High-Frequency Market Reporting

  • Real-Time Agility: Deliver daily market summaries and price list reports that track rapid movements in the financial landscape.

  • Weekly Performance Deep-Dives: Synthesize weekly market trends into concise, executive-level briefings for the investment committee.

  • Strategic Accuracy: Ensure 100% data integrity across all reports, utilizing Bloomberg, Reuters, or internal databases.

Qualifications and Skills:

Technical Toolkit

  • Market Data Platforms: Experience with Bloomberg Terminal, Refinitiv Eikon (Reuters), or S&P Capital IQ.

  • Financial Modeling: Expert proficiency in Excel-based modeling, valuation, and quantitative data analysis.

  • Economic Literacy: Deep understanding of fiscal/monetary policy and its impact on asset classes.

Professional Background

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance, or Business Administration. A Master’s degree or being a CFA Charterholder (or candidate) is highly preferred.

  • Experience: 4–6 years of experience in buy-side or sell-side research, investment banking, or economic consulting.

  • Analytical Prowess: Ability to synthesize vast amounts of complex data into clear, actionable investment narratives.
