Job Description:
The Knowledge and Innovation for Development (KIID) is seeking committed, curious, and community-driven individuals to join our Research and Assessment Team (KRAT). KRAT is the analytical engine of our organization, responsible for generating the high-quality evidence that shapes policy briefs, advocacy, and life-changing development interventions.
Whether you are an experienced researcher or a motivated young graduate (including NYSC members and students) looking to break into the development sector, this is your chance to gain hands-on experience. We provide the orientation and capacity-building; you provide the curiosity and commitment to excellence.
Requirements:
1. Field Intelligence & Data Collection
Active Enumeration: Conduct field surveys, structured interviews, and community assessments to capture ground-level realities.
Study Support: Assist in the execution of Baseline, Midline, and Endline studies that measure the long-term impact of our projects.
Digital Accuracy: Use mobile data collection tools to accurately record, verify, and submit data in real-time, ensuring zero loss of information.
2. Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning (MEL)
Outcome Harvesting: Participate in identifying the "unintended" successes and challenges of programs to improve future designs.
Monitoring Visits: Join field teams for regular site visits to track project progress against established goals.
Ethical Standards: Engage with communities with the highest level of respect, maintaining strict confidentiality and ethical research protocols.
3. Capacity Building & Professional Growth
Continuous Learning: Participate in intensive training sessions on research methodology, digital tools, and data cleaning.
Team Synergy: Engage in debriefing sessions and learning loops to share field insights and strengthen the KRAT team’s collective knowledge.
Reporting & Documentation: Assist in the basic cleaning of data and the preparation of field reports that inform our advocacy.
Qualifications and Skills:
Essential Requirements (The Baseline)
Education: Minimum of SSCE; however, OND, HND, or BSc holders in any discipline are highly encouraged to apply.
Availability: Must be available for short-term field assignments and occasional travel to community sites.
Mindset: A strong interest in community development and a willingness to be trained in modern research methods.
Linguistic Skill: Good communication skills and the ability to follow complex field instructions carefully.
Desirable Skills (The "Extra Mile")
Tech Savvy: Familiarity with digital tools like KoboToolbox, ODK (Open Data Kit), or Google Forms.
Experience: Prior experience in enumeration or surveys is a plus but not mandatory.
Local Insight: Ability to speak local languages relevant to the assignment area is a strong advantage.
