Job Description:

We are seeking a persistent and professional Recovery Officer to join our collections team in Ibadan. In this role, you will be responsible for protecting the company’s assets by ensuring the timely repayment of overdue loans and outstanding debts. You will act as a primary point of contact for clients with delinquent accounts, utilizing high-level negotiation and interpersonal skills to resolve payment issues while maintaining a professional relationship between the client and the organization.

The ideal candidate is a resilient professional who can balance empathy with firmness to achieve recovery targets.

Requirements:

Debt Recovery & Follow-up

• Arrears Management: Proactively follow up on overdue loans and outstanding payments through phone calls, emails, and physical visits where necessary.

• Client Engagement: Engage with clients professionally to understand their financial challenges and emphasize the importance of prompt repayment.

• Negotiation: Structure and negotiate realistic repayment plans for clients in financial difficulty, ensuring these plans align with company interests.

Reporting & Documentation

• Performance Tracking: Prepare detailed recovery reports and regular updates for management, highlighting progress against set targets.

• Record Keeping: Maintain accurate logs of all client interactions, payment promises, and successful recoveries within the company’s database.

Policy & Compliance

• Procedural Adherence: Ensure all recovery activities are carried out in strict compliance with company policies, ethical standards, and relevant financial regulations.

• Accountability: Ensure that all recovered funds are properly documented and processed according to internal financial protocols.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Education:

  • Minimum of an OND, HND, or B.Sc in any discipline.

• Experience:

  • Previous experience in loan recovery, debt collection, or credit control is an added advantage.

• Core Competencies:

  • Negotiation: Proven ability to persuade and influence clients to honor financial commitments.

  • Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with a professional and firm demeanor.

  • Resilience: Ability to work effectively under pressure and consistently meet or exceed recovery targets.

  • Organization: Strong time management skills and the ability to manage a high volume of delinquent accounts.
