We specialize in the production of essential nutritional products including Ready to Use Therapeutic Food (RUTF), Ready to Use Supplementary Food (RUSF), and Lipid Based Nutrient Supplements (LNS) which support humanitarian and health interventions nationwide.
Job Description:
We are seeking a high-integrity and technically rigorous Quality Controller to anchor our production standards in Kano. In a high-volume food manufacturing environment, success is defined by "Preventative Vigilance", the ability to identify non-conformities before they exit the production line. This role is designed for a "Compliance Architect" with 2 years of food industry experience who can blend "Sensory Mastery" with the "Operational Authority" required to authorize line restarts and manage critical internal controls.
Your mission is to ensure "Zero-Defect Production and Uncompromised Food Safety." You will be the primary steward of our quality lifecycle: responsible for sensory panels, transport verification, root cause analysis (RCA), and the governance of production consumables. If you possess "Analytical Grit," fluency in English and Hausa, and a Diploma in Food Science, we want you to drive our commitment to excellence.
Requirements:
1. Sensory Governance & Material Verification
Sensory Leadership: Serve as a core panelist for the sensory evaluation of raw materials, packaging, and finished products, ensuring consistent flavor and texture profiles.
Reception Stewardship: Collect samples for every material reception and verify the availability of Certificates of Analysis (COA) to ensure vendor compliance.
Logistics Integrity: Assess transport vehicles for sanitation and safety, immediately notifying the team of any deviations that could compromise product safety.
2. Production Oversight & Technical Control
Line Authorization: Act as the final authority to restart production lines following any stoppage, cleaning, or maintenance activity, ensuring the environment is "Ready-for-Production."
Equipment Monitoring: Execute the internal control plan for all production equipment, ensuring calibration and operational hygiene are maintained throughout the shift.
Consumable Management: Ensure the constant availability and correct labeling of production essentials, including PPE, 70° alcohol, and sanitary supplies.
3. Non-Conformity Management & Analytical Reporting
Root Cause Analysis (RCA): Participate in deep-dive RCA sessions for any identified quality defects to prevent recurrence and improve systemic reliability.
Documentation Fidelity: Consistently update the defect logbook and non-conformity follow-up sheets, providing a transparent record of all shift incidents.
Shift Orchestration: Conduct thorough handovers between shifts to ensure that challenges and non-conformities are communicated clearly to the incoming team.
Qualifications and Skills:
Professional Profile
Education: Minimum of a Diploma in Food Science or a related technical discipline.
Experience: 2 years of progressive experience in a quality-focused role within the food industry.
Languages: Full professional proficiency in English and Hausa is essential for effective communication in the Kano region.
Core Competencies
Reporting Mastery: Advanced proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook for data tracking and formal reporting.
Leadership Grit: The confidence to halt production when quality standards are not met and the interpersonal skills to lead team improvements.
Problem-Solving Prowess: Ability to create and follow complex inspection schedules and navigate technical challenges under pressure.
