Job Description:

  • We are seeking an experienced Project Manager with a Civil/Structural Engineering background to lead the planning, execution, and delivery of reinforced concrete reservoir projects.
  • The ideal candidate must have successfully managed similar water-retaining structure projects and have hands-on experience delivering donor-funded, NGO-sponsored, or government infrastructure projects.
  • The role requires strong leadership, technical expertise in concrete reservoir construction, stakeholder coordination, and strict adherence to regulatory and donor compliance requirements.
  • The position involves frequent travel within Nigeria for project monitoring and site supervision.

 

Key Responsibilities
Project Planning & Execution:

  • Lead end-to-end delivery of reinforced concrete reservoir projects from initiation to commissioning.
  • Develop project plans, schedules, budgets, and resource allocation strategies.
  • Ensure alignment with project scope, technical specifications, and funding requirements.
  • Monitor progress to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery.

 

Technical Oversight (Civil/Structural):

  • Provide technical leadership on the design and construction of water-retaining concrete structures (ground, elevated, or underground reservoirs).
  • Review and approve structural drawings, calculations, BOQs, and contractor submissions.
  • Ensure compliance with Nigerian codes, international standards, and donor guidelines.
  • Oversee implementation of proper reinforcement detailing, waterproofing, crack control, and durability measures.

 

Construction Supervision & Quality Assurance:

  • Supervise contractors and site teams to ensure quality execution.
  • Enforce QA/QC standards for concrete works, materials testing, and structural integrity.
  • Conduct site inspections and resolve technical challenges promptly.
  • Ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental standards.

 

Stakeholder & Donor Management:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for government agencies, donor organizations, NGOs, consultants, and contractors.
  • Prepare and present progress reports, risk assessments, financial updates, and compliance documentation.
  • Facilitate site visits, audits, and technical review meetings.
  • Ensure compliance with donor safeguard policies and procurement procedures.

 

Risk & Compliance Management:

  • Identify potential project risks and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Manage contract performance and variations.
  • Ensure full compliance with COREN regulations, Nigerian construction standards, and funding agency requirements.

Requirements:

  • BSc/MSc in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering.
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in civil/structural engineering and project management.
  • Proven track record managing reinforced concrete reservoir or water-retaining structure projects.
  • Mandatory experience handling donor-funded, NGO-sponsored, or government infrastructure projects.

 

Professional Certification:

  • Registered with COREN (Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria) – Mandatory.
  • Active member of NSE (Nigerian Society of Engineers) – Mandatory.
  • PMP, PRINCE2, or other project management certification is an added advantage.

 

Technical Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of reinforced concrete design and construction.
  • Proficiency in project management tools (MS Project, Primavera).
  • Familiarity with structural design software (ETABS, SAFE, STAAD.Pro, AutoCAD).
  • Solid understanding of Nigerian building regulations and international standards for water-retaining structures.

Salary

N600,000 - N800,000 / Month (Commensurate with experience).
