Job Description:

We are seeking a talented and innovative Product Design and Development Engineer to lead the digital transformation of our prosthetic and orthotic fabrication. In this role, you will be the driving force behind our in-house fabrication unit, taking devices from 3D scans to fully functional, life-changing products.

Requirements:

End-to-End Digital Fabrication

• Manage the Workflow: Oversee the complete digital pipeline, from capturing anatomical 3D scans to CAD rectification and final printed output.

• Design & Iterate: Use parametric CAD software and mesh-editing tools to design, refine, and optimize prosthetic and orthotic components.

• Production Operations: Take full ownership of our in-house 3D printing systems. This includes process tuning, quality control, and maintaining the equipment to ensure optimal performance.

Engineering & Compliance

• Technical Documentation: Maintain rigorous design history records, version control, and CAD documentation to ensure all devices meet engineering and safety standards.

• Process Development: Develop and document precise print parameters for engineering-grade polymers to ensure strength, durability, and comfort.

• Mechanical Validation: Conduct regular design reviews, mechanical checks, and structured product development cycles.

Collaboration

• Clinical Partnership: Work closely with clinicians and fellow engineers to translate complex clinical needs into elegant, functional designs. You will play a key role in refining the fit and function of every device we produce.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Education: A Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related field.

• Core Skills:

  • Proficiency in parametric CAD software and mesh-editing tools.

  • Practical experience with 3D scanning and the ability to work with organic, complex scan geometry.

  • Hands-on experience operating industrial-grade FDM 3D printers.

• Design Philosophy: A working knowledge of Design for Additive Manufacturing (DfAM).

• Technical Aptitude: Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, technical tolerances, and complex assembly documentation.
